The Future Of The Grayson Family

Will Mark And Oliver Swap Perspectives?

Mark wants to be the hero that his dad wasn’t in that he wants to spare the lives of villains no matter what. After witnessing countless deaths in season three, culminating in the fight against Conquest, Mark has a change of heart. He tells Oliver he is willing to kill now, prompting his character to go down a dark path in season four.

It would be interesting if Oliver swapped perspectives with Mark, who began season three as a darker character and sided with his dad’s opinions on killing his enemies. Speaking of Nolan, is he ever going to return to Earth, or will he fight the invasion directly with Allen on the Viltrumite’s home planet? The Grayson family is assuredly going to go through some rough water in season four.

There are a lot of disgusting shots of villains and heroes with their mouths destroyed in Invincible season three. One of those heroes happens to be Atom Eve, who gets brutalized by Conquest. It seems like she is going to die, but when Invincible is about to bite the big one, Atom Eve resurrects herself.

She is able to repair her body and damage Conquest immeasurably in the process. When she comes to with Mark, she explains that she can go into this power state in times of stress. It’s kind of reminiscent of Jean Grey going through The Phoenix Saga in the X-Men comics, but hopefully, Eve won’t lose her mind if she is able to control this power in season four.

Will Cecil’s Past Get More Time?

Building A Friendship With Nolan

Fans are treated to a little of Cecil’s backstory in episode two. It shows how he gets scarred, how he becomes the director of the agency, and how he meets Nolan. There is still a lot left on the table, like how Cecil managed to get his teleportation powers or how he sunk into a dark pit of secrets as the new director.

Beyond flashbacks, it’s also unknown if Cecil will be able to get Conquest to dish out Viltrumite secrets, as he kept him alive without Mark’s knowledge. Was that a good idea, or will it bite Cecil in the butt?

The Fate Of The Order

From Mister Liu To Multi-Paul

The Order is a shady organization that hasn’t been examined too deeply in the cartoon yet. Season three expands its scope by introducing one of its assassins, Multi-Paul, who is the brother of Dupli-Kate. He works for a metal-jawed old man calling himself Mister Liu who can turn into a massive dragon.

Mister Liu is killed during his transformation process, but his successor seemingly revives him from behind the scenes. What exactly happens to his spirit remains a mystery, as is the whereabouts of Multi-Paul following his prison break.

Angstrom Levy And The Technicians

And What Of The Multi-Marks?

Angstrom Levy was the big bad of Invincible season two, a villain who has the power to control the multiverse. Mark is haunted by killing him in the finale, but it turns out that painful regret was for naught, as The Technicians revived Levy. Levy returned in episode seven with a force of other Invincibles from across the multiverse who wreck Earth and Invincible Prime’s image beyond repair.

To get as far as he does, Levy promises the Invincibles and The Technicians things he doesn’t plan to follow through on. Unfortunately for him, The Technicians created a backdoor solution in case Levy betrayed their cause. What do The Technicians want and will the other Invincibles return from their trapped dimension?

The last ten minutes of season three flashed a lot of content to get fans excited for the next season. For example, there is a brief scene in the sewer wherein a bunch of random citizens are shown to be playing host to Martian parasites.

Damien Darkblood

The Detective Returns

The final scene of season three sees the return of a character from season one: Damien Darkblood. Darkblood is kind of like an amalgamation of John Constantine and Hellboy from other big comic franchises. He was a demonic detective in season one of Invincible, looking into Nolan’s past before he started wrecking Earth.

After he helps unlock those secrets, Darkblood kind of disappears from the show. At the end of season three, though, Darkblood can be seen using a pentagram of some sort to summon a smaller version of his kind which he dubs as his master. Who is this character, and who has Darkblood chosen from the surface world to revive this new character?
