Katee Sackhoff Implies She’s Not In The Mandalorian & Grogu, Making A Fourth Season Of The Mandalorian More Likely

The Mandalorian & Grogu could still potentially be the end of its titular duo’s adventures, but one potential absence from the cast of the upcoming movie could indicate that there’s more beyond that project for the pair and their allies.

The Mandalorian kicked off the current era of Star Wars prominence on Disney+, and has since given the franchise three solid seasons of streaming. While fans waited for the show to pick up again, it was announced that the story would pick back up in The Mandalorian & Grogu, a feature film that was understood to be the end of the series. With the film being both a return to the big screen for Star Wars and the curtain call for the most impactful series Lucasfilm had put out on Disney+, it seemed like the franchise would be pulling out all the stops, even casting Jeremy Allen White to play a previously obscure Star Wars character.

Avengers: Doomsday cast member Tom Holland has a busy schedule this year, so the film may take a page from The Mandalorian to film Spider-Man scenes.

While the announcement was bittersweet for fans, hope would be restored by a rumor suggesting that The Mandalorian & Grogu might not be a curtain call after all, and a recent castmember might have given the idea more legitimacy. As reported by Collider, Sackhoff was on a panel at the recent Indiana Comic Con to take questions from fans. When asked about her involvement in the upcoming film, Sackhoff gave a pretty coy response by saying, “I have not been in the armor in 2025,” serving up the line along with a massive grin on her face. While the comments could be a ploy to mask her involvement in the project as she would have already filmed her part on the project since filming wrapped in 2024, making the statement technically true, there’s a far more interesting potential interpretation: Sackhoff simply isn’t in The Mandalorian & Grogu. While this could be a bit disappointing, taking the actress at her word could be the best confirmation that fans will get another season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ after the upcoming film.

Bo Katan has been a fan favorite since her introduction, but more to the point, she was just as much a focus of the show’s last season as Din Djarin was. She’s been such a central part of the show’s narrative that there’s no way to end the show satisfactorily without the character making a prominent appearance. If Sackhoff isn’t in The Mandalorian & Grogu, then it’s almost guaranteed that the upcoming film won’t be the conclusion for the Disney+ show. As far as the fandom goes, this would be great and might actually be worth not seeing the beloved character on the big screen. Fans of the show really want it to end where it began on Disney+, especially considering the fact that Jon Favreau already wrote the whole fourth season anyway, and it would go a long way to properly put the show’s myriad plotlines, character arc,s and untapped potential to bed. This final season might even be the moment where Mando passes on the torch to Bo Katan once and for all, potentially riding off into the sunset while Sackhoff gets a spin-off show.

For now, fans can only wait and see what the upcoming film, which is rumored to rethread a Clone Wars storyline for its central plot, has in store for Bo Katan. While her appearance would be a great addition to the film, her absence will certainly be made more bearable by the implications. Fans win either way, but more content on Disney+ would seem to be the greater good for everyone involved, including Bo Katan.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is currently set for theatrical release on May 22, 2026.
