The new map and biome have quite a few secrets, including a new Shining Shafts Vault in Fortnite. This is one of a handful of secret vaults located on the map. While the season’s gameplay might be dominated by the dill bits, exotics, and overpowered unbalanced items, there are still some of these traditional vaults waiting for you. Although, it’ll take a bit of work to get into.
This season, the whole set up with killing bosses to get a key card is basically gone. Instead, players have to crack a vault and defeat waves of enemies this time, before taking the token up to the Black Market to actually get the weapons. However, the other vaults on the map offer a bit of a simpler start. Pull off the secret entrance trick, then enter the room and get your supply of rare chests! The Shining Shafts Vault can be a bit tricky to get inside though. This is how it’s done:
How to Get Inside Shining Shafts Vault in Fortnite
The Shining Shafts Vault in Fortnite is opened up in a completely unique way. If you want to get inside, you’ll need to drop here, and then run through these steps:
- Head over to a turn-able valve on the back of the POI. Near the overhead walkway.
- There should be an interact button at this wheel

- Immediately jump on the grind rail behind you, and head inside the mine
- On the far end of the rail is the second valve, turn this.
Turn to your right, and jump down to the lower floor - Head up the ramp and turn the final wheel
- If done quick enough the door to your let will open, revealing the Shining Shafts vault in Fortnite!
The whole process is pretty easy once you’ve practised it. Although, there is an issue with timing sometimes. If you’re not quick enough it’ll reset and you’ll have to double back a few times to get the door open. Sometimes if you’re slow the door will only partially open then close.
Get it done quickly enough though and you’ll find the entire Shining Shafts vault sat there waiting for you! What exactly is inside the vault though? You should get some of the best Fortnite weapons provided RNG is on your side.

The Shining Shafts Vault has all the goodies you’ve come to expect from vaults in Fortnite. You’ll be able to find a few rare chests, great since they’re normally random. Along with normal chests, ammo boxes, and quite a bit of gold! The currency is in extra-plentiful this season, but if you’re running short then there’s plenty here for you. You won’t find dill bits to trade in at the Black Market locations. However, just like the Outlaw Oasis vault you’ll still get some proper weapons.
