Assassin’s Creed Shadows follows the series tradition and throws players into an expansive map filled with landmarks to explore, and new NPCs to encounter. However, the only means of traversing across the whole map is either through running or relying on your trusty steed. Thankfully, the game lets you summon your mount from anywhere on the map, but it doesn’t tell you how to do that outright. Let’s check out how players can use whistling to call their mount and lure enemies to their demise.

How to Call Your Mount in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows makes it easier for players to summon their mount by simply whistling for it. First, let’s check out the controls for calling your mount in the game.

Once the mount is called, Naoe or Yasuke will automatically hop onto it and start riding. This action may get confusing for players as pressing the D-Pad Down or X key once will trigger a whistle, which is primarily used as a lure for enemies.
How to Upgrade to a Higher Rarity Mount
Players will have a common horse when the game starts for Naoe. However, you can also upgrade your mount in Assassin’s Creed Shadows to a higher rarity by simply buying a horse from the Ornament Vendor. These vendors are located in named cities across the map, but players will have to search for them manually by roaming the streets.
After interacting with an Ornament Vendor, players can choose a higher-rarity horse, and simply purchase it for money. The horse prices usually change depending on what level you’re currently at. However, it’s not worth upgrading your horse just for a rarity. This is because the upgraded horse does not come with any special perks or upgraded abilities, like faster speed.
So, you’ll be buying a higher rarity mount in AC Shadows just for its looks, or replacing a common horse with a rarer one. There aren’t any practical advantages to doing so, so it’s best to save money.
