Contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 3 and the book, Fire & Blood
Even though House of the Dragon season 3 is still in its production stages, fans are already being treated to some spoilers when the upcoming season returns, which looks as though a missing Targaryen will now be making an appearance. Taking inspiration from George R. R. Martin’s epic adventures in Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon explores the vast plains of Westeros two years before the Old King’s death, and picks up the narrative in the ninth year of his grandson, King Viserys’ sovereignty.
Throughout the fantasy show’s two seasons, its writers have taken pretty big creative liberties in their adaptation, especially so with the ending of season 2, where many fans felt that the TV series diverted far too much from the source material. House of the Dragon season 2 concluded with ‘The Queen Who Ever Was’ on August 4, 2024, and since then, loyal viewers have come up with a slew of theories about what they think will happen next, with some even thinking that Daemon will become the three-eyed raven. As the wait for season 3 starts to really heat up, it seems like its return will follow on from the epic tale that the House of the Dragon season 2 finale left off, but now, the stakes look to be even higher than ever before.

House of the Dragon Season 3 Character Leak Introduces Prince Daeron Targaryen
According to the website Redanian Intelligence, who is the all-seeing eye when it comes to House of the Dragon and Netflix’s The Witcher news, Steve Toussaint, who plays the Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon, accidentally shared a picture from the show’s Season 3 table read. In the image, a list was shown that contained a cast index for the third episode of the upcoming season. Toussaint’s now-deleted Instagram post may have vanished into the ether, but one fan was quick to grab a screenshot which was captured by X/Twitter user WtDasoiaf, which clearly includes Prince Daeron Targaryen at the top of the list and will finally appear in House of the Dragon Season 3.
Although it hasn’t been revealed who will play Daeron Targaryen in House of the Dragon season 3 yet, this is exciting news for fans who have been wondering when the third son of King Viserys Targaryen and Alicent Hightower will show up. Daeron has been mentioned a few times throughout its two seasons, but this seems to be the best confirmation that this major character will now be given their own story arc.
However, it has been noted that a few characters were missing from the list, specifically Otto Hightower and Jacaerys Velaryon which could mean that these characters may meet their fate sooner rather than later, and for those who have read the book, Fire & Blood, Jacaerys’ demise won’t be a huge shock as he died during the Battle of the Gullet, which season 3 is reportedly beginning with.
Production has commenced on House of the Dragon season 3, so this could mean that filming may wrap up around September this year with a summer 2026 release.
