Haunted Chocolatier Has the Perfect Stage to Reveal Itself

Haunted Chocolatier Has the Perfect Stage to Reveal Itself

Haunted Chocolatier is one of the most anticipated indie titles right now, as solo developer Eric Barone has the difficult task of following his first hit, Stardew Valley. While a challenge, the premise of Haunted Chocolatier is a charming subversion of its predecessor, which is bound to make it a unique experience.

This time around, players will be tasked with working as a chocolate maker who works in a haunted building. Haunted Chocolatier will likely differ from Stardew Valley in a number of ways, but the game is mostly shrouded in secrecy at the moment. One of the biggest mysteries of all, though, is when the candy-making title will be ready. Announced back in 2021, many have been eagerly waiting for Haunted Chocolatier. Barone most likely still has a lot of work to do on the project, but there’s always room for surprises, which could make Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 event a great stage for an appearance.

One of Stardew Valley’s best, but also most controversial, farm types could be a perfect fit for Haunted Chocolatier, its spiritual successor.

Haunted Chocolatier Would Be the Ideal Game to Showcase at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct Event

A Deeper Look Into the Switch 2 is Imminent

  • The Nintendo Direct event airs on April 2.
  • This showcase will offer deeper insight into what to expect from the Switch 2.
  • While finer deeper details have yet to be confirmed, there are hopes for a release date announcement, launch title reveals, and price confirmation.

If the Nintendo Direct event reveals the first round of Switch 2 launch titles, they are more than likely bound to be exclusives. While that makes sense, there is still the chance that major third-party announcements could be present, too. It’s unlikely, but if there were ever the perfect third-party release to showcase at such an event, it would be Haunted Chocolatier.

Stardew Valley Has a Strong History With the Switch

While a lot of fans see the PC as the best way to play Stardew Valley, the game’s Switch port is definitely one of the strongest console options. Stardew Valley has maintained a powerful following on the Switch, and it’s bound to continue with the console’s successor. Haunted Chocolatier is practically a shoo-in for Switch 2 success, which is one of the many reasons a reveal at the Nintendo Direct event would be so monumental. However, because of Barone’s attention recently being focused more on Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier may be further away than a lot of gamers are hoping for.

On Haunted Chocolatier‘s official blog, Barone addressed fans, confessing that working on Stardew Valley‘s massive 1.6 update took a lot of development time away from the project for a while. There is a silver lining, though. Barone further wrote, “I’ve already done a ton of work on the game. Before I took this break for Stardew 1.6, I had created a ‘vertical slice’ of Haunted Chocolatier, essentially a skeleton of the game with most (not all) of its bones in place.” Of course, this could still mean the game is far away, but knowing that a significant amount of work has been completed is promising.

The Switch 2’s mouse Joy-Cons could make it the perfect console option for Stardew Valley and Haunted Chocolatier players.

The Switch 2’s Launch Lineup Could Make Waves

This year is set to be one of the biggest launch years for gaming. Between GTA 6, the Switch 2, and whatever unannounced games arrive alongside it, any titles revealed at the Nintendo Direct event are going to make a splash. April 2 is going to be a big day for gamers, as it’s potentially going to set the tone for the rest of the year.

I’ve already done a ton of work on the game.

It’s probably just wishful thinking for Haunted Chocolatier to make a Nintendo Direct appearance, but surprises are always possible. The Switch 2 promises an exciting new era, and it would be great for Haunted Chocolatier to be part of its genesis.
