For the most part, Like A Dragon games put male characters on the front. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some excellent female characters on the side who have a determined mindset to overcome many challenges.

There are characters who have shown their capabilities in combat such as Saeko, Kaoru and Soonhee. A lot of them have played more of a support role, which often mattered a lot to Kiryu and others. You may even find characters like Queen Michelle taking on a strong antagonist role.

Yuki
Yuki was the number one hostess at Sunshine Cabaret Club in Yakuza 0. While she had trouble talking to her customers at first, she becomes better at it after interactions with Majima. She is a cheerful character but couldn’t do well at her other job interviews due to her shy personality.
She makes another appearance in Yakuza Kiwami 2. This time she is running her own Cabaret Club named Four Shine. Yuki is passionate and aims to make it a successful business venture.

Kaoru Sayama
Kaoru Sayama is a feisty character who doesn’t back down even if she is up against the strongest Yakuza, earning her the title of Yakuza Huntress. Despite maintaining a tough demeanour for the majority of the game, she ends up falling in love with Kiryu.
Kaoru Sayama played a major role in Yakuza 2, but disappeared from the series after that. It was a shame for her character, as she didn’t fulfill her promise by leaving Kiryu for her career abroad.
She didn’t forget Kiryu, as shown in Infinite Wealth in her cameo.

Queen Michele
Queen Michele is one of the strongest women antagonists ever seen in the Like A Dragon series. While she doesn’t participate in combat, she is a powerful captain who commands a large army of pirates in Madlantis.

Reina
Reina was the owner and manager of Serena, a bar that Nishiki and Kiryu often frequented in their early careers as Yakuza. Reina is a mature character who also offers advice to the young ones around her.
In Yakuza 0, she offered shelter to Kiryu as he was on a run from the Doujima family. She also tries to resolve conflicts such as the dire situation between Kiryu and Nishiki in Yakuza Kiwami, but ends up getting caught up in strife which leads to her demise.

Makimura Makoto
Makimura Makoto is a central character in Yakuza 0. She ended up as a target for yakuza factions just because of the patch of land she owned. Due to her severe trauma, she lost her eyesight temporarily, but she is still skilled at her job at a massage parlor.
Makoto isn’t very strong physically, so Majima has to protect her often, but this developed a strong dynamic between them. She has the tendency to act recklessly at times due to her feeling responsible for certain events. Even after years, she remembers Majima’s kindness and wished to thank him.
Makimura Makoto returns in Majima Saga in Yakuza Kiwami 2.

Haruka Sawamura
Haruka had a hard life as a child, losing both her parents during the events of Yakuza Kiwami. This led to Kiryu adopting her and the father-daughter bond between them is something to cherish in the Like A Dragon series. She is also the most responsible child in Kiryu’s orphanage and helps Kiryu with all chores.

During her idol career, Haruka quickly climbed up the ranks due to her talent and charisma. However, she left it and returned to the orphanage because of the bond she had with Kiryu. Haruka feels responsible for the burdens other people take on her, as shown in Yakuza 6, where she leaves her family to save them from the media’s attention.

Saeko
Saeko is Ichiban’s crush, although she had no interest in having a relationship with him. She cherished the precious moments with Ichiban as a member of the party and didn’t want to ruin it.
She has enough wits to manage the Silky Song bar and expand its business. Saeko also feels concerned for her sister Nanoha who works on a soapland. Saeko is a mature character who tries the best to improve the lives of her family members.

Akame
Akame really came through for Kiryu in Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. She was in charge of The Akame Network, which was well-known in Sotenbori for taking care of the homeless people residing there.

Seonhee
Seonhee’s charisma led her to become one of the fan favorites quickly when she made her appearance in Yakuza: Like A Dragon. She runs Geomijul, which is one of the major crime factions in Yokohama, with great valor and confidence. After the events of the game, she also became in charge of Yokohama Liumang.
While she first appears as an adversary, Seonhee becomes an important ally to Kasuga and his party. She is also shown to be cunning, using her appearance as a means to trick her opponents.
Seonhee becomes a party member in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
