Combat, as you would expect, is a large focus in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but you can use stealth to avoid a lot of this if you’re willing to be more patient. A lot of your success with stealth throughout the game will depend on just how sneaky you can be, but your clothing options help significantly as well.

Which character in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are you most like?

Keeping an eye out for the best stealth clothing choices isn’t as easy as it is for defense or charisma, since you need to balance the three dedicated stealth stats, while also keeping aspects like the colour of the clothing into consideration as well. If you’re looking to be a master thief, sometimes less is more, so what should you be wearing?

Pickpocket’s Hat

It’s the kind of detail you don’t notice unless it’s pointed out to you, but a lot of the characters in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will have their heads covered. Aside from most of the story-relevant characters, most NPCs will be wearing a cap of some kind.

Because of this, to be less conspicuous, as well as less visible too, you’ll want to wear a cap. Any dark covering that isn’t too gaudy will usually be better than nothing, but the best option, fittingly, is the Pickpocket’s Hat. It’s easy to get early on since it’s an affordable option that Miller Kreyzl will occasionally keep in stock.

Wanderer’s Hood

Hood

While you might assume that your jacket would contribute the most to the stealth level of your outfit, since the hood covers most of the upper part of Henry’s body, it’s also one of the more important pieces to consider as well.

It’s an easy item to disregard since you can find it quite often in the early-game, but if you get a dark Wanderer’s Hood, it’ll still be useful as a stealth clothing choice well into the late-game. Thanks to how common it is, it’s one of the least conspicuous clothing choices, and it doesn’t contribute much to noise or visibility either.

Gambeson

Depending on just how stealthy you’re trying to be, for a lot of the game it might be preferable to avoid wearing a gambeson under your body-wear because of just how much noise they can make.

Henry’s life is far from over.

However, once you’ve made your way to the Kuttenberg region you’ll finally have access to the Robber Baron’s Aketon. The innkeeper at the Devil’s Den, being just as shady as Miller Kreyzl in Trosky, has some useful items in stock for thievery. This includes the Robber Baron’s Aketon, formally owned by a former thief/noble, which is the best stealth gambeson by far.

Vagrant’s Coat

If you manage to find a stealthy gambeson, then you might want to skip out on a coat if you don’t have one that is dark enough. These parts of your outfit are often incredibly visible and will also significantly contribute to your overall noise levels.

That’s why, if you’re lucky enough to find a dark Vagrant’s Coat, you’ll want to immediately equip it to your stealth preset, since it will cover most of Henry’s body. It also happens to be one of the quieter and less conspicuous coats available too.

Knacker’s Gloves

Before attending the wedding during the early-game of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll have the choice of helping either the Miller or the Blacksmith. While helping both is likely the best option for the sake of experience and the tutorials both can provide, if you’re planning to focus on stealth, then the Miller is preferable.

These achievements are the most difficult you’ll encounter in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

The stealth outfit you’ll get from the Miller will be serviceable for most of the early hours of the game, but if you continue down his side quest line, you’ll eventually get the Knacker’s Gloves as a reward from Ignatius the gravedigger. These dark gloves make little noise and cover all of Henry’s pale (and therefore visible) hands, making them the perfect stealth gloves.

Noble’s Quilted Hose

Padded Hose

When putting together the best stealth outfit, most of the options are inexpensive clothes that are most often worn by commoners, but a clear exception to this rule is the Hose, with the Noble’s Quilted Hose being one of the best options.

Since it’s padded, it doesn’t make too much noise, and if you get it in a dark colour it’s not that visible either. One of the best traits of this armor is that it’s also helpful for boosting Henry’s speed, useful if you need to quickly dart out of view. Even though these are more expensive, they’re worth investing in if you’re looking to commit to a full stealth outfit.

Soft Boots

Shoes

Once you reach the end of your stealth preset, and you’ve finally made your way to the shoes, it’s easy to just stick with whatever you have lying around that is dark enough. However, this is an easy mistake you should avoid, since shoes can be one of the loudest pieces in your set.

Since most of the shoes have hard (and therefore noisy) soles, the Soft Boots are worth seeking out since they’re the exception to this. The in-game description specifically mentions that they’re designed to not squeak, making them perfect for a quiet robbery.
