Beloved space game and No Man’s Sky rival Forever Skies is finally coming to 1.0

If you want to play a new survival game with a distinct flavor, look no further than Forever Skies.  It’s a little bit of Fallout, No Man’s Sky, and Subnautica all rolled into one, and it’s been getting better and better recently. With an 84% positive user score from almost 5,000 reviews, Forever Skies is worth a try if games like Palworld and Once Human have run their course for you.

With the Earth’s surface long ruined by ecological disaster, humanity turns to high-tech airships. That’s the Forever Skies elevator pitch, a well-loved survival game that’s steadily been making its way through Steam Early Access. Your futuristic dirigible is your new home, lab, and workshop all rolled into one, but unlike bases in other games from the genre, you can pilot this one wherever you want. You’ll still have to manage the blimp’s integrity by gathering resources, though, so don’t let upkeep fall by the wayside. Instead of heading to the stars like in the best space games, you’ve come back home.

You can’t thrive by staying on your airship, however, so at some point you’ll need to explore what’s left of humanity. That means venturing out to the ruins built high enough to escape the world’s destruction, or what’s left of them, to gather any resources still knocking around. When you’re ready, though, it’s time to descend through the dust and into the dark. Flora and fauna have mutated over time, and while almost anything could kill you with a touch, there are also viral pathogens that can cure illness.
