In Helldivers 2, players can be as optimal or creative as they want when figuring out what equipment to bring during missions. Some have already made what they believe to be the best builds against the Illuminate, Automatons, and Terminids, but know that nearly anything can be seen as the strongest or the most viable as long as one understands how to use everything they’re bringing effectively. Since the game’s release, the weapons have received substantial changes, with some being more powerful than ever before. This would be the case for those centralized around fire damage, and having a loadout committed to them today is a great way to ensure that missions are completed.
Flame-type weapons in Helldivers 2 are considered some of the most dangerous to use, as not only can they deal significant damage to enemies with ease, but also to allies. However, they have seen a massive improvement since their early inception, with many updates, such as The Freedom’s Flame Warbond, providing more options and increasing their ability to cause harm. Considering the changes they have undergone, now would be an excellent time for people to think about centering a build entirely on flame weapons, as the power it provides can overshadow the risks that come with them.

Why Players Should Consider Using a Full Fire Loadout in Helldivers 2
Regardless of the difficulty level of the missions in Helldivers 2, committing to a full-fire equipment loadout can easily take on nearly any enemy or obstacle, especially in the right hands. While it’s understandable that some would be apprehensive about using weapons centered around flames, it would be a missed opportunity not to give it a try, as there are certain factors to consider:
- While not so much against the Automatons, flame weapons have proven to be especially effective against the units of the Illuminate and the Terminids, as they shred through their defenses very easily compared to other alternatives due to the lingering damage ticks from the fires they produce.
-
It has incredible offensive and defensive options, such as the Orbital Napalm Barrage and MD-14 Incendiary Mines
stratagems, allowing players to tackle missions and objectives in a variety of ways that are efficient while also cinematic and entertaining.
-
Flame weapons come in a variety, such as the long-range Double-Edge Sickle or the more up-close and personal FLAM-40 Flamethrower
, ensuring that there’s something that caters to different playstyles.
The evolution of flame weapons in Helldivers 2 has shown that they are more viable now than ever, despite the dangers that come from using them. Arrowhead Game Studios has provided them with enough updates that have turned them into the powerhouses that they are today, and a loadout committed to them is usually looked at with favor rather than displeasure, considering the benefits it possesses.
How Helldivers 2 Players Can Overcome the Risks That Come With a Full Fire Damage Loadout
One of the biggest reasons why some don’t even consider using flame weapons is because of how easy it is to harm oneself or allies with them. However, that doesn’t mean there’s no way to at least somewhat negate that problem. Helldivers 2 has a lot of cool armor, all of which provide a variety of passive abilities that provide different benefits. Within the list of protective gear are pieces that reduce the amount of burn damage one can receive, namely the I-44 Salamander Armor
and the AC-2 Obedient Armor, with the former providing 75% resistance and the latter giving 50%. While obtaining and equipping them doesn’t completely remove the threat of being burned to death, and is also a chore considering their costs, doing so is worth the effort as they provide enough protection that allows players to use the flame equipment with very little worry.
There will always be a discussion about what the best builds are against the units of the Terminids, Automatons, and Illuminate, and there will likely never be one that’s objectively the best. Still, the majority created are powerful, and the ones centered around flame weapons are particularly so. Hopefully, players are able to look past their risks and focus on the positives they bring instead, as they have never been in a better position than they are in Helldivers 2 today.
