Upcoming horror game Ghost Sector feels like a mix of Resident Evil and Deus Ex

There is something about the murk of the PlayStation 1 that lent itself to horror. Limited polygon counts and CPU power translated to searing neon lights and gaping darkness. It was hard to see and the flickers of pixels and CRT scan lines tricked your eye into seeing things that weren’t there. It’s no wonder that survival horror mainstays like Resident Evil and Silent Hill made their debut on the PlayStation. Upcoming game Ghost Sector seeks to bring that aesthetic back in force, in a blurry and dark sci-fi world which conjures Metal Gear Solid and Deus Ex.

You play as M-07, a robot replica that awakens in its factory after a lock down. Without memories of any kind, or even the ability to know whether you should have memories, you must explore the facility to find answers. Ghost Sector could have an all-timer haunted house, a maximum security prison turned research complex run by the M-Tech Corporation.

As for how it will play, Ghost Sector pulls on some of the best horror games like Resident Evil and is part of a wave of retro horror throwbacks like Signalis. It has classic tank controls and fixed camera angles. As you explore the facility, you’ll find upgrades like a cybernetic shield to boost your ability in combat. But your resources will start out limited and you’ll have to be careful as your explore the now-hostile factory.
