Konami confirmed that playing Silent Hill f on Windows PCs will not require a high-end gaming rig, as the upcoming horror title will only require older parts to run the game at a 720p resolution and 30 frames per second (FPS). Playing Silent Hill f at 60 FPS will also not be a steep endeavor, though Konami recommended that players store the game on a solid-state drive (SSD) for the best performance.
Silent Hill f will take players away from the series’ titular Maine town and focus on the fictional Japanese town of Ebishugaoka and follow the survival of a high school student named Hinako Shimizu. According to the game’s lead writer, Ryukishi07, the setting is based on the real-world city of Gero, located in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture, known for its hot springs and tourism. Silent Hill f will also incorporate depictions based on Japanese customs that were considered acceptable during the 1960s. Konami added a disclaimer that the depictions are not indicative of the developers’ modern viewpoints.

Although Konami has not revealed a release date for Silent Hill f, PC players now know what specification requirements they must meet to play the game. According to the Silent Hill f Steam page, the game’s minimum and recommended spec requirements recommend players use Windows 11 and have at least 16 GB of RAM and over 50 GB of available storage space. To play Silent Hill f at 720p and 30 FPS, a processor like the Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and a graphics card such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 are required.

The recommended settings for playing the game at 60 FPS have slight bump-ups in power. A Ryzen 5 5500 or Intel Core i7-9700 CPU will be necessary, along with a GPU like the RTX 2080, the Radeon RX 6800 XT, or newer. Silent Hill f will also support playing in 4K via upscaling technology like Nvidia DLSS. Storing Silent Hill f on an SSD will ensure the best possible performance.
The ESRB rating for Silent Hill f also indicated that the horror title will incorporate graphic depictions of torture, gender discrimination, and child abuse. The game is also developed on Unreal Engine 5, which could add a new layer of disturbing realism to these scenes.
Given that Silent Hill f will aim to keep the series’ signature body horror intact, current and new fans will thankfully not need an expensive gaming PC to play through the upcoming title. Only time will tell how the PC performance of Silent Hill f will turn out once the game is released.
