After seeing what both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have accomplished with the original Final Fantasy 7, anticipation is high and so are expectations, despite not really knowing what to expect, after Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth rewrote the rules of what a remake can be. Even so, there are still some aspects of the original game that players can expect to see in the upcoming third entry to the remade trilogy, including some new playable characters.
While there are obviously some playable characters that are a given in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 on account of those who appear in the original game and were already introduced in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, if the second entry has proven anything, it’s that the remade trilogy is not afraid to subvert expectations, even to the point of altering certain story beats. Vincent and Cid Are All But Guaranteed
Even though the list of potentially playable characters in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is a bit longer, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind are all but guaranteed to be fully playable in the third entry. Cid, perhaps even more than Vincent, is essentially a guarantee due to his role as a playable character in the original Final Fantasy 7. Vincent, on the other hand, is expected to be fully playable in Part 3 since he appeared in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as an accompanying, non-playable party member, much like Red XIII, who is now fully playable, did in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Aerith and Zack May Also Be Unconventionally Added
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has already taken bold steps to reinvent the original game, and that includes tossing in some playable characters that the original Final Fantasy 7 didn’t have. For example, Yuffie Kisaragi, who was merely an optional character in the original game, is fully playable in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy and even plays a central role in the story. Furthermore, Vincent Valentine, who was also an optional character in the original game, is expected to be added to the party as a playable character in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 in the same way that Yuffie was.
In light of that, it’s entirely possible that the third entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy may add other characters who are playable at this point in the story or at all in the original game. Firstly, it’s possible Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 could make Zack Fair a playable character, as his story has become an increasingly prominent part of the trilogy’s evolving narrative. It’s also highly probable that Aerith Gainsborough will make a return as a playable character to some extent, simply due to the changes Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth made to her story.

If all of this turns out to be true, players could find themselves with a stacked party with the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, although it will likely look a lot different from what they might anticipate.
