The third season of Invincible puts anything seen in The Boys to shame. The gore is so excessive in this season that it becomes a joke. How many times can someone’s mouth explode or someone’s bones pop out? It can be intense especially when that character actually dies.

Multi-Paul
Spaced Out
Multi-Paul is a new addition to the cast of season three. He comes into the first episode, trying to assassinate Rex because he blames him for killing his sister, Dupli-Kate. In a shocking revelation, Dupli-Kate is shown to be alive which Multi-Paul is grateful for, but that still doesn’t get him out of jail. Feeling desperate, Multi-Paul attempts a breakout of his own in episode five which is one of the most horrific scenes in this season which is saying something as season three is graphic even beyond recent movies like Heart Eyes or Companion.
Multi-Paul duplicates himself excessively in his jail cell while holding up in the rafters. The versions below collide together, breaking bones as they cannot occupy the same space. This eventually breaks the door open, with what looks like dozens of bodies spilling out. So, while Multi-Paul Prime doesn’t die altogether, seeing his clones be squished and die like that was horrifying.

Future Immortal
The King Is Dead
The Immortal lived for centuries before becoming a hero for Earth and had died many times in the comic and cartoon versions. So, seeing him die is never that shocking once his powers are revealed. What makes his death subvert those expectations in season three happens in episode four.

Knucklebuster And Forcefist
Headshot: Double Kill
Knucklebuster and Forcefist are two minor villains who appear in episode two. This is an important episode as it details Cecil’s rise to power in the ranks of defending the U.S. and the world from superheroes and supervillains. In a flashback mission, Cecil confronts Knucklebuster and Forcefist who crafted poison that can melt skin.
The mission ends with some innocent lives being lost and Cecil getting permanently scarred. Despite what they did, Cecil’s boss, Radcliffe, rehabilitates Knucklebuster and Forcefist to serve him but Cecil wants no part in this. He shoots them both in the head which finds Cecil on a one way trip to jail. While not brutal deaths compared to other characters, Knucklebuster and Forcefist serve as a symbol to what Cecil stood for.

Becky And Jack (Powerplex’s Wife And Son)
Caught In The Crossfire
Mark is still haunted by what his father, Nolan, did at the end of season one. Their battle destroyed much of Chicago and season three recalls this information for a memorial service in episode six. This is also where viewers are first introduced to Scott Duvall, a sick man who becomes twisted after witnessing the deaths of his family members in Chicago.
He steals valuable technology to become the electrified supervillain known as Powerplex. He tries several times to meet Invincible to make him pay for his crimes, eventually leading to a trap involving his wife, Becky, and son, Jack. The goal was to pretend to be tied up while Powerplex distracted Invincible. Unfortunately, Powerplex goes haywire and nukes Becky and Jack to ashy skeletons in the process which still feels unreal.

The Mauler Twins
Two For The Price Of One
The Mauler Twins appear in every season and despite getting thwarted several times, these supervillains prove themselves worthy of their intellect time and time again. Through many clones and downfalls, they get back up every time. After episode three of this season though, the Maulers are not getting up again.

They are on a winning streak, zapping superheroes who show up at their missile heist with a gun that can paralyze them. Even Invincible is defeated with a simple zap from this cannon. Seeing the news on TV, Oliver speeds to his brother’s rescue and does not hold back against these devilish twins. Oliver flies through one of them and explodes the other’s head even after he tries to surrender. It’s as scary as it is violent and even the superheroes are shocked by this bloody child’s power.

Rex Splode
Goodbye To One Rude Dude
The worst death of season three is thankfully not that graphic. Rex meets his end while trying to buy time for his fellow teammates. All out of ammo against a multiverse version of Invincible, Rex sees no other option than to his use own bones as explosives.
The explosion manages to kill this doppelganger and Rex as well. Upon investigating the hideout, all that is left of Rex is a dusty silhouette against the wall, which is an homage to how many people died during the bombing of Japan in World War 2. Rex may have been a difficult hero to get along with, but he was funny and his heart was in the right place. He will be missed.
