It's Not A Release Date, But Xbox Is At Least Acknowledging That Hollow Knight: Silksong Still Exists

Summary

  • Xbox just casually mentioned Silksong as an “upcoming” game in a new blog post.
  • It’s listed alongside a bunch of other games, all launching 2025.
  • Is Silksong finally releasing this year? Maybe, or maybe this is just more copium.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a staunch member of the copium ranks, a flagbearer who proudly marches alongside the illustrious Bloodborne, Half-Life 3, and GTA 6. We’ve had nonsense ARGs cooked up by wide-eyed fans still clinging onto hope, and completely made-up release dates as all pretense is thrown out the vaguely bug-shaped window. All while the community spirals into complete dysfunction, showcase after showcase, clawing at scraps. Well, get your doggy bowl ready, we have more scraps.

As pointed out by ResetEra user vixolus, Xbox just casually mentioned Hollow Knight: Silksong in a random blog post, confirming that a) it still exists, and b) Microsoft and Team Cherry are still collaborating. Silksong might launch on Game Pass yet.

“We’re focused on helping independent teams enable Xbox Play Anywhere to reach more players – allowing seamless play across console, PC, and cloud,” ID@Xbox director Guy Richards wrote. “Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with upcoming games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, FBC: Firebreak to play across the whole Xbox universe… and of course Hollow Knight: Silksong too!”

There’s an interesting connection between the games that Richards listed ahead of Silksong — Clair Obscur is launching on April 24, Descenders Next is due April 9, and FBC: Firebreak has a vague release date of ‘2025’. They’re all releasing this year, so perhaps Silksong — also under the “upcoming” umbrella — will follow suit.

This isn’t just vague theory-posting to stir up the same fanbase who spams every live showcase with “SILKSONG” in the comments, desperately hoping to manifest the game out of Geoff Keighley’s mouth like Twitch Chat Plays The Game Awards Host. Even Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier thinks there’s a chance that Silksong will launch this year.

Back in January, he shared his predictions for 2025, and there were a few big copium shout-outs. He speculated that GTA 6 would be delayed into next year, that Half-Life 3 would finally be announced, and that Silksong would, after six years, finally be released. Does this throwaway mention in an Xbox blog back up that idea? Maybe, or maybe it’s just another scrap. Either way, Silksong mentioned.
