The Deep Depths Event makes its debut in Pokemon Go this week, a brand-new event with its own set of unique features and bonuses. In addition to these bonuses, the Deep Depths Event will also bring a few debuts to the game as well, including two Pokemon appearing for the very first time.

This will be a six-day event, taking place from Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10am local time, to Monday, March 24, 2025, at 8pm local time. While the Deep Depths Event is active, most aspects of the game will be impacted or changed; read our complete guide below to know exactly what to expect.
Pokemon Go Debut: Nickit And Thievul
You will be able to acquire Nickit, and its evolution Thievul, starting with the Deep Depths Event. You will have several opportunities to obtain Nickit throughout this event, available in Eggs, as a reward encounter, and in the wild.
You will be able to evolve Nickit into Thievul, its only evolution.
To complete this evolution, it will require 50 Nickit Candy, obtained from catching, hatching, or transferring either Nickit or Thievul.
Event Bonuses
There will be two different bonuses you will be able to take advantage of during the Deep Depths Event. These two bonuses include:
- Eggs placed in Incubators during this event will have half the Hatch Distance.
- Clauncher encountered or hatched will have higher chances of being Shiny.
Event Eggs
When collecting 7 km Eggs during this event, they will hatch different Pokemon than those that typically hatch from this type of Egg. Make sure to acquire and hatch as many of these Eggs as you can during this event, giving you the chance to hatch one of the following Pokemon:
- Nickit
- Pawniard
- Galarian Corsola
- Clauncher
Clauncher hatched from Eggs during this event will have increased odds of being Shiny.

Event Wild Encounter Pokemon
You will also see a change in the Pokemon found in the wild during this event, replacing those that you typically find with those following this event’s theme. Make sure to log-in and play during the days of this event for a chance to encounter:
- Nickit
- Murkrow
- Corphish
- Sneasel
- Clamperl
- Purrloin
- Frillish (F)
- Clauncher
Event Research
Free Timed Research
All players who log into Pokemon Go during the days of this event will be given free Timed Research. Complete the different tasks from this Timed Research before the end of the Deep Depths Event to earn:
- One Mysterious Component
- Ten Kubfu Candy
- Event-themed Pokemon encounters
- Double the Stardust for catching Pokemon (after completing all Timed Research tasks)
Paid Timed Research
There will also be $2.00 USD Paid Timed Research available to purchase at the Pokemon Go in-game shop, giving purchasers additional tasks to complete. Completing these tasks will reward you with:
- Two Super Incubators
- Clauncher and Nickit encounters
- One Star Piece
Event Field Research Tasks
You will be able to obtain Event Field Research Tasks by spinning different PokeStops during this event. Make sure to collect and complete these Field Research Tasks for additional event-themed Pokemon encounters.
Collection Challenges
There will be Collection Challenges available to complete during this event, requiring you to catch and evolve specific event-themed Pokemon. Complete these Collection Challenges to earn event-themed Pokemon encounters, XP, and Stardust.
