How To Craft Shock Traps In Monster Hunter Wilds

How To Craft Shock Traps In Monster Hunter Wilds

Whether you’re trying to slay or capture a monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, traps are great tools that slow down your target and leave them open to be tranquilized or in a spot to lay in on the damage. While your main weapon should be the most important tool in your arsenal, it’s also important to stock up on and utilize traps as often as you can.

One very useful trap all players should consider using is the Shock Trap, which will briefly stun any monster that gets close to it. While some monsters can be immune to being stunned, others will be left vulnerable to easy attacks that you can line up against a wound or weak point. Here’s how to easily craft Shock Traps and stock up on them.

The Player Crafting A Shock Trap

Overall, your best method for getting a Shock Trap

is by crafting them. A few main story quests and side quests do reward them, though these quests aren’t repeatable, so if you’ve already done them you won’t be able to get more Shock Traps that way. To craft Shock Traps, go into the menu and select the Crafting List option, then tab over to the third option, Traps/Offense. Shock Traps can be found on the third page halfway down:

The Player Buying Trap Tools From The Stockpile

Trap Tool

will be your main bottleneck when trying to craft a bunch of any kind of trap. The only way to get trap tools is through the provisions vendor in base camp at any region. They can be purchased for 200 Zenny a piece, which won’t add up too much with the right money farming tactics. The stock of a vendor will reset after one in-game day, so after buying out an entire stock use your tent to advance time to the next day and buy more.

Where To Get Thunderbug Capacitors In Monster Hunter Wilds

Thunderbug Capacitor

are obtained when looting a Thunderbug, and are a good bit easier to find, though they don’t spawn in every region. Thunderbugs only spawn in The Windward Plains and Ruins Of Wyveria, though the Windward Plains is by far the best place to farm them. In the plains, check the following areas for the highest concentrations of Thunderbugs:

  • Area 1
  • Area 3
  • Northern section of Area 2

You can also find Murtabak and unlock him as a Material Retriever, with one of the options being Thunderbug Capacitor. This item is also a three-star item, meaning he’ll find a lot of them when you prioritize him to search for them specifically.
