Calm down. I’m telling you to calm down. Yes, Xbox has just namedropped Hollow Knight: Silksong, but six years after the initial reveal, I think we all need to approach this with an air of caution. Team Cherry’s massively anticipated sequel has been silent for a long time now, but Xbox mentioning it could point to a 2025 launch.
The Hollow Knight Silksong release date could come any day now. I’m firmly of the belief that at this point, Team Cherry is just going to shadow-drop it. All the unwarranted hype around every single showcase from absolutely anyone means having to wait any longer would add insult to injury. The Metroidvania is on everyone’s minds, including Xbox’s.
A new blog from ID@Xbox director Guy Richards has been published, and it celebrates how the scheme has paid out more than $5 billion to indie developers since 2013. That’s mighty impressive, and honestly incredible news for everyone making passion projects in their bedrooms. ‘But what about Hollow Knight Silksong?’ I hear you furiously typing.

“No matter where people choose to play, we’re working with developers to make the most of the features unique to that device or screen,” Richards writes. “Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with upcoming games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, and FBC: Firebreak to play across the whole Xbox universe… and of course Hollow Knight Silksong too!”
So there you have it, Hollow Knight Silksong has been mentioned by Xbox. It’s worth noting that each game listed, apart from Silksong, is scheduled for launch in 2025. Does that mean Silksong will also, finally release this year? Well, let’s start putting on the clown makeup, because I’m a believer again.
