The tournament will consist of 16 teams participating in the event. There is no confirmation of how these teams will be selected for the event yet.

In the Group Stage, the 16 teams will be split into 4 even groups. While the exact format hasn’t been revealed for the group stage, it will likely be a GSL with a double elimination bracket, based on the number of matches. The top 2 teams from each group will move on to the Playoffs, which will be a single elimination bracket.

A point to note is that VCT China Stage Two is slated to take place from July 3, meaning we might not see any Chinese teams in the event.

Last year, VALORANT wasn’t a part of the Esports World Cup. However, the game has made an entry in 2025, and the six-day event will add another international esports competition for the FPS title in the calendar. Unlike many other games in the Esports World Cup, the VALORANT tournament isn’t a part of the official Riot’s VCT circuit. Nonetheless, the addition will be a welcome move for the esports organizations, allowing them another competition to earn a prize pool from.

Additionally, the Esports World Cup Foundation recently revealed the Club Partner Program with 40 teams, many of which are also VCT Partnered orgs.
