Angstrom orchestrates one of the biggest disasters in the show thus far, by bringing evil variants of Mark from across the multiverse to the main universe, to annihilate everything in their path. They decimated cities and killed a bunch of heroes, all in the name of destroying the one good Invincible’s reputation as revenge. But what exactly did the Invincible war accomplish?

Angstrom Levy’s Revenge

Angstrom Levy was once a scientist with a noble goal, exploring alternate dimensions for knowledge. But after a brutal accident with the Maulers left him accidentally disfigured, his perspective completely changed as his brain got completely fried.

Unlike most villains, Levy wasn’t interested in simply defeating Mark; he wanted to make him suffer on a level no one had before. To do this, he attacked Debbie and Oliver, but Mark managed to overpower him and accidentally kill him.

But it turns out he wasn’t completely dead and managed to survive thanks to the Technicians. He then decided to plan his next move meticulously and so, he came up with the perfect plan, one that would tear Mark’s world apart and push him to his absolute limits.

The Beginning Of The Invincible War

Different variants of Invincible entering the main Invincible universe.

Angstrom Levy used his dimension-hopping abilities to bring in dozens of alternate-reality versions of Invincible, each one from a world where Mark had turned evil. These twisted versions of him had no hesitation when it came to causing destruction, and they didn’t hold back, just like Steven Yeun voicing all these different Invincibles.

Cities were reduced to rubble, hundreds of thousands of people died, and Earth’s heroes were completely overwhelmed, with some iconic heroes, including Rexsplode, dying to protect everyone else.

Mark was forced to fight monstrous versions of himself and saw firsthand what he could have become if things had gone differently, something he had been internally fighting against since Season 2.

Angstrom incapacitated by the Technicians in the Invincible War arc.

Though not all the versions of Invincible were evil, they all brought about destruction. By the end of the third day, only eight variants survived, but were promptly sent to a destroyed dimension where they are trapped until further notice.

The Invincible War pushed Mark and the other heroes to their breaking point, but it also proved just how strong their determination was. In the end, Mark confronted Angstrom and finally decided to go for the kill.

However, Angstrom managed to escape at the last second. Though Angstrom escaped, he’s still trapped by the Technicians, and will perhaps show up in future seasons. This arc established for Mark that some people are so evil that they deserve to be killed, something that Mark has been vehemently against since the start of the show.
