The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies includes a complete overhaul of how body art works. You can now completely customize any tattoos on your Sim. The options include freehand drawing or using stamps and stencils. There are also several new designs which you can unlock through the tattooing skill.
Stencils are a great in-between option as they allow you to customize the colors in more complex designs. Each stencil shows an outline on your Sim’s body, allowing you to see how it will look, then choose a color and paint over the stencil. You can use multiple colors, and even layer them up.

Full Body Black Out With Patterns
Intense Reverse Body Art
This is the most intensive design, both in stencils and in general. It covers the body in blackout ink and just leaves swirling line patterns, like doodles across a canvas. The patterns meld together well and look amazing, but the level of inked in areas means there are no half measures here.
It’s almost impossible to stencil out just one area of this design, since it all links together with those swirly uninked lines, from neck to ankle. This means you have to go hard or go home.
The tattoo in full feels like a bodysuit, complete with a split down the front. If you love the pattern but find the black ink too intense, try experimenting with a different color. This can make this tattoo feel more viable as an option when the dominant ink is less obvious than the usual default of deep black.

Full Body Geometric Pattern
A Head To Toe Design
This full-body stencil literally covers a Sim from head to toe. The design is focused on geometric shapes with mainly quite straight lines, and in places resembles an animal fur pattern in the way the patterns come together. It feels quite native in nature, and is a stunning choice for a Sim who wishes to embrace full-body art.
The design is very striking visually, mainly due to the closeness of the dark lines to each other. The design’s intensity also means that it is difficult to cut out parts of this tattoo as they meld together across the body.

Urbz players, it’s your moment: tattoo studios are back in The Sims. This is how to set one up.
The facial designs can be cut and used separately, but the main design below still goes high up the back of the neck. This makes the stencil something you really need to be prepared to go all in on to make it look right. The lack of flexibility is sadly a major down point if you want a more topical design, despite how beautiful it looks.

Mandala Designs And Geometric Shapes
Mandala Designs Make A More Separate Yet Cohesive Look
This pattern incorporates a lot of mandala patterns alongside the geometric patterns. These actually split the tattoo into small sections which you could pick out to use as smaller pieces.
The flexibility to use this design as small pieces or a larger cohesive full-body design is a big plus. The beautiful back piece is a particular highlight which you can also extend across the chest.
Pick and mix works well here and the patterns are unique and visually intriguing. Some parts are symmetrical across the body while others aren’t, adding even more unique visual elements.

Mandalas, Swirls And Lattice Combined
A Mix Of Delicate Styles
This stencil mixes mandalas, swirls, lattice work and beautiful free hand art into an intriguing design. Once again, there is flexibility here, thanks to the spaces across the design allowing it to be cut off.
Several types of art combine beautifully here to make a unique and eye-catching full-body design, or an intricate smaller piece. Versatility is high and so is detail. Delicacy is key, and the design evokes feelings of care and attention to detail.

Werewolf DLC Stencils
A Beautiful Bonus For Werewolf DLC Owners
If you also own the Werewolves DLC, you’ll find seven more stencils to choose from. Two of these are striped designs which mimic animal fur patterns, with two more resembling spot-based animal fur looks. For those taking werewolf injuries seriously, one design mimics a range of full-body scars, while another has a Frankenstein’s Monster feel, thanks to the stitched wounds. Finally, there is a skeleton design.
These designs are more versatile than they appear. While you may want to keep the leopard print for the wolves, the skeleton and stiches make neat halloween options. Alternatively, a goth Sim may just want to illustrate their insides on the outside.
Thanks to Create A Sim, tattoos are not permanent, so you can pretend they are henna designs and remove them after the fun is over. Alternatively, you can try and relive your Jack and Sally-based dreams all year round with creative use of the stitched design.
Be it werewolf or human, these stencils will help create a unique look for your Sim, whatever form they may take.
