Best Assassin’s Creed Shadows weapons

What are the best Assassin’s Creed Shadows weapons? AC Shadows scales item levels to your current character level, so the best gear is typically whatever you discover next. However, like most RPG gear systems, it also offers up loot of varying rarities – and unsurprisingly, the Legendary weapons are top-tier.

These Legendary weapons are by far and away the best AC Shadows weapons thanks to their unique passives. These passives can completely define your playstyle in the RPG game, and we’ve featured plenty of them in our best AC Shadows builds. Be sure to brush up on the AC Shadows Legendary gear locations as you peruse the weapons we’ve evaluated to be the best of the best.

The best weapons in Assassin’s Creed Shadows are:

  • Myth Slayer
  • Sage’s Reach
  • Patient Harbinger
  • Boulder Fall
  • Yami no Kage
  • Snakebite
  • Winds of War

Assassin's Creed Shadows best weapons: Yasuke unsheathing a large katana

Myth Slayer

Myth Slayer is an absolute beast of a weapon. Not only does it provide an extra burst of postured goodness at the end of a combo, but it makes enemies vulnerable, opening them up to even more damage. Obtained towards the beginning of Shadows’ mid-game, this mighty blade will serve you well.

Sage’s Reach

We’re firm advocates of the best offense being a strong defense – especially for Yasuke. Sage’s Reach exemplifies this, storing the damage from consecutive blocked hits as bonus damage on the samurai’s next hit.

Assassin's Creed Shadows best weapons: Yasuke holding a long brown teppo

Patient Harbinger

Patient Harbinger can be yours as soon as you get to Omi, which is an absolute dream considering just how good it is. With two bullets in the chamber, you can bring the largest foes to their knees in a single blast. Engrave the ricochet effect from Hero’s Message later on and you’re golden.

Boulder Fall

Kanabo are slow to swing, even for Yasuke. As such, you may often find your attacks getting interrupted when trying to deal with groups of enemies. Fortunately, Boulder Fall exists, ensuring that Grunt #23824 can’t rain on your pummel parade.

Assassin's Creed Shadows best weapons: Naoe unleashing a katana from a grey scabbard

Yami no Kage

While deflection isn’t the healthiest of coping mechanisms, it’s a fabulous offensive mechanism in AC Shadows when Naoe has Yami no Kage in-hand. Now, foes strike at the peril of having all of their intended damage reflected directly back at them.

Assassin's Creed Shadows best weapons: Naoe unsheathing a katana from a green scabbard with a snake pattern

Snakebite

Perhaps our favorite weapon of Naoe’s all-told, Snakebite emphasises the interplay between katana and tool, making it possible to instantly charge posture attacks as soon as a tool’s been used. Quick throw a shuriken or kunai, strike with a postured swing – rinse and repeat until dead.

Winds of War

While status-afflicting weapons haven’t featured much in our playthrough, Winds of War is immensely satisfying to use when combined with engravings that bolster affliction application. This weapon provides a bit of extra oomph when fighting multiple enemies, and is particularly effective with Katsuhime by your side, an AC Shadows ally who specializes in applying daze to enemies.

And those are the best Assassin’s Creed Shadows weapons you can uncover on your adventure. Remember to pair them with the best AC Shadows armor and AC Shadows skills for a powerful build. Alternatively, check out our extensive AC Shadows guides hub for even more tips and tricks.
