There are a lot of games on Roblox where you assume the form of something with the goal of eating those around you and getting bigger. In fact, this type of game is nothing new. One game that you can play like this is Be Fish. As expected, this game puts you in the fins of a fish, with the sole goal of getting bigger.

Here’s how to get the Hunt Mega Edition Token in Roblox: Pet Simulator 99!
In this guide, we will take a look at some beginner tips to help you truly excel in Be Fish. While the game is simple, it can be hard to break out of being a tiny fish that is constantly being eaten. These tips should help you stay alive and eventually become one of the biggest fish out there!
End Run When You Want More Fish
As you play Be Fish, your fishing net at the bottom of the screen will grow in size. The longer you play, the more this number increases. This is the amount of fish that you have collected so far. If you are going for a considerable amount of time and feel like you want to be another fish, don’t be afraid to end your run!
Ending a run doesn’t have any consequences. When you end the run, you’ll get to see all the fish that you’ve unlocked and switch to being one of them if you feel like it. Overall, if you are ever feeling bored with your fish of choice, end your run to see what your fishy loot is.
End Run Before Getting Eaten
You can also end a run right before you’re about to get eaten. While getting eaten doesn’t have a penalty, it means that another player will grow in size based on how big you are.
Rather than feeding someone else, end your run if you feel like you’re about to get eaten. This is especially helpful if you are quite big and the other player is massive. You don’t want to feed into their bloated score and size!
If you end a run and need to do some configuring, you can just wait in the lobby. No eating occurs here.
Don’t Forget To Craft New Fish
Once you get 50 of a certain fish, you’ll be able to craft it into a new, golden version. Eventually, you’ll also be able to make Rainbow, Glowing, and Shadow versions, but for now, the next step is to become gold.
In order to do this, you’ll need to have 50 of the same fish. This is easy for more common fish, but some are more difficult to obtain 50 times. For example, here at TheGamer, we primarily use the Eagle Ray, which has a rarity of 1 in 690,000. As such, we only have one of this fish type.
To craft a fish, click on ‘Switch Fish’ and then ‘Craft All’ at the bottom. If you have a stack of 50 for any fish, you’ll see them come to be. We suggest doing this after an especially long run, as you may have some new fish to craft.
Check The Fishdex
Speaking of your fish, don’t forget to head to the Fishdex, which is found on the left-hand side of the screen, above the shop. Here, you can check out all your fish, as well as the five versions of each.
On the left of the fish list, you’ll see your rewards for collecting more fish. By expanding your collection, you’ll be able to increase your luck and growth multiplier. This, of course, is quite handy; don’t forget to head to the Fishdex every once in a while to claim any rewards that may be there.
Increased luck also affects the loot that you receive from opening treasure chests. We’ll go over this a little more later, but basically, better luck means a higher chance of getting rare fish.
Consider Growth Vs. Speed
When choosing a fish, you’ll have to consider two main stats; growth and speed. Growth determines how big you get when eating things, while speed determines how fast you go. It’s up to you to decide which stat you want to prioritize, as both are good.
Here at TheGamer, we prioritize fish with a high speed. While growth can be important, it’s impossible to grow if we are constantly being eaten. If you feel confident in your movement, then consider choosing a fish with a high growth rate.
Don’t Corner Yourself
The ‘map’ of Be Fish is essentially a giant square, so it’s easy to corner yourself. Rather than hugging the edges of the map for safety, consider branching out towards the center. The exact center may be scary, but just try not to hug the walls too tightly.
When you do this, it makes it very easy for larger fish to follow you and pin you into a corner. While trapped, there is no way to swim around and escape. Don’t put yourself in this situation!
Go For The Center Items If Possible
Every once in a while, the very center of the map will have a giant shrimp-like thing for you to eat. If you can make it out this far without getting eaten yourself, we highly suggest going for it.
When you are at a larger size, this won’t have the biggest impact, but it can really jumpstart your run early into the game.
Use Auto-Farm Wisely
Be Fish has an Auto Farm feature that is free (no Robux required!). This may sound helpful, but it’s important to use this only when necessary. For example, if you are absolutely massive and need to take a short break from playing, consider using Auto Farm.
The feature isn’t too intuitive, so there is a high chance that someone will come along behind and just eat you. If you temporarily turn it on, you can see that you’ll just move around in a slow area with no regard to other fish.
Open Your Treasure Chests
Lastly, open your treasure chests! As you play, you’ll earn treasure chests randomly. These chests won’t open right away, but if you wait, they can be opened. For example, we gathered five chests one day, and then the following day, they were available to open.
Be sure to open your chests while in the lobby area. The opening and obtaining animation is quite long, and you can’t skip it. If you are mid-game, you won’t be able to move around during this time.
This is a great way to earn new fish types, so don’t forget to check in on your chests when playing again. The chests can be viewed from the ‘Shop’ tab, which is right below your Fishdex. Overall, you don’t need to spend any real money to get these rewards.
