Summary
- A fan-made Baldur’s Gate 3 animation featuring Shadowheart and Karlach received praise from fans and even the devs.
- This prompted one Larian dev to say that an animated series based on the BG3 companions would be great.
- Chris Pratt should be cast as Withers.
Baldur’s Gate 3, despite being two years old, is still fresh in the hearts and minds of fans. This is down to many reasons – the brilliant writing, seamless integration of D&D elements, overall player freedom are just a few. However, we can all agree that the best and most adored part of the game is the gang you travel with.

We’re gonna be talking about this game for a decade and more.
Karlach, Shadowheart, Astarion, Lae’zel, Gale, and perhaps even Wyll (unlikely), are well written and nuanced characters, with each of us having a favourite among them. Besides their relationship with Tav, they also have relationships with each other, creating a fun and chaotic little friend circle that fans love. One such fan has created a short animation featuring Shadowheart and Karlach that the fans and even the devs of Baldur’s Gate 3 love.
An Animated Show Featuring The BG3 Gang Would Be Perfect
The animation, shared by @avercwh on Twitter, features the two ladies talking about how things may or may not get easier for them on their quest. While the voice overs are from the game itself, the animation is original and looks stunning. The little changes in expression really capture the contrasting personalities brilliantly, and the little details, like Lae’zel sharpening her sword in the background, are on point.
While fans poured in the compliments, the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitter Handle also commented saying “Absolutely brilliant”. Not just that, publishing director at Larian, Michael Douse, retweeted the short clip and said, “I maintain that a mature BG3 cartoon series would pop the fuck off if someone continued our legacy of those shorts. (This is great).”
I have to admit, the party banter was some of the best moments of the game. No matter what world-ending event they faced, there was always time to argue or make fun of each other, like a proper D&D party. A comedy animated show with the BG3 companions at the centre would be a must-watch for me. Oh, and Durge should definitely make guest appearances as a wildcard – like Doug Judy in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
