Waylay is the latest Agent from Thailand to fulfill the role of a Duelist for her team in Valorant. With her, players can quickly dash into a site to create space and make safe passage for their teammates. She can also play aggressively as her teleportation guarantees her safety. Waylay’s abilities’ resemble some of the older Agents’, but with a slight twist.
The Agent introduced a whole new effect into the game, Hindered, which puts the affected enemy or teammate in slow motion for a few seconds. Waylay’s ability kit opens up whole new possibilities for unique strategies on various maps.

Ascent

Ascent has the most standard map design in Valorant and as Waylay, you can wreak a lot of havoc on attack. On the A-site, you can use Lightspeed to get on top of the generator and kill enemies. Similarly, Lightspeed can also be used in B-Main to get into the B-Site over the roof.
The defensive side is rather easy to handle. Waylay can place her Refract in a safe spot to take aggressive duels or use the Operator. For example, to peek into Mid-Link from Mid-Cubby, she can place her Refract in A Garden to teleport back to safety.

Split

Split is a map with narrow lanes and a lot of verticality. Waylay’s abilities could be very useful on this map. During the attack half, her Lightspeed can be used to quickly scale up into elevated areas. This is best for A-Site as she can speedily dash onto the A-Rafters to take control of the A-Tower.

On defense, Waylay can again post herself aggressively with the gun of her choice and safely placed Refract. However, she can also use the Saturate from the A-Site onto A-Main to aid her team in getting an early kill. Waylay’s ultimate, Convergent Paths, can have a lot of impact on Split due to the sites’ smaller size during retake or proper executes.

Haven

- Location: Thimphu, Bhutan
Haven is a heavily attack-sided map due to its three sites. Due to this, the rounds tend to get somewhat chaotic, which is where Waylay can thrive. Her Lightspeed can help her get on top of boxes and allow her to get kills from off angles. On the attack half, the Saturate can also help take space in areas like C-Garage and A-Sewer.
Waylay can also have a lot of impact by using the Operator on the defense side. The long lanes of Haven allow for the perfect sniping spots to get easy first bloods. As always, if the situation gets scary, she can always Refract back to safety.

Fracture

Fracture’s two attack spawns make it the unique map in Valorant and open up multiple paths for Waylay to be effective. During the attacking half, she can easily take control of A-Dish by herself by using Saturate and following it up with Lightspeed. Waylay can also dash up to A-Rope from A-Door to take control of the enemies’ spawn.

The same sequence can be done for B-Tower from B-Arcade to get inside the site. Waylay can also have some impact on defense by quickly taking control of A-Hall through A-Door. However, this would require some support from other Agents like Breach or KAY/O.

Lotus

Much like Haven, Lotus can be quite the playground for Waylay. The map offers both wide and narrow areas for her to find impact. In the attacking half, she can use her Lightspeed to quickly take control of important areas like A-Rubble or C-Mound to deny space.
With the Refract, she can also feed fake information to opponents by teleporting back into a completely different area. Similar to Split, Waylay’s ultimate ability, Convergent Paths, can find a lot of value during retake scenarios as the sites are small.

Icebox

Icebox has proven to be very difficult for most players. However, Waylay mains can have a great time and create a huge impact in several rounds. With her Lightspeed, she can dash into multiple elevated spots, like B-Yellow, A-Screen and the top portion of Mid-Blue to secure some off-angle positions.
Due to Icebox’s long-ranged battles, Waylay can use her Refract to post herself with the Operator. For example, she can peek from the topside of B-Yellow into B-Green to get an easy first kill and teleport back into an isolated area. However, her biggest threat here could be KAY/O, who has a very high pick rate on Icebox.

Bind

Bind is another map that heavily favors attack due to its two teleports. These allow for some very creative plays for Waylay. Much like Yoru, she can feed fake information to opponents by using the teleport on a site, only to Refract away to a completely different spot.
Waylay will take Raze’s place, who is still the most commonly picked Agent on Bind. On attack, she can use her Lightspeed from A-Short’s box to get into A-Lamps from the back of the site. The Refract can also come into clutch to take control of smaller areas like A- Bath, A-Lamps and even B-Elbow.

Sunset

- Location: Los Angeles, USA
Sunset has seen quite a few changes since its release. Waylay could prove to be a mainstay in the latest version of the map. Due to a good mixture of wide and narrow areas, she can make perfect use of both her Lightspeed and Saturate. For example, she can both take and keep control of the A-Elbow using both of the mentioned abilities.
Similarly, the defensive half can see her speed into Mid-Tiles or Courtyard from Mid-Top to get first bloods and put her team into an early advantage. However, this will require a great amount of support from other teammates. Waylay’s ultimate ability can also turn the tides of a match on Sunset as it can affect large portions of both sites.
