Monoma Neito has always been a complex character who expresses his inferiority complex around the Class A students; however, he shows a kinder side to others. Monoma has always acted as the aggressor in situations involving Class A, likely due to the imbalance of power of the hero society and his own insecurities about his Quirk: Copy.
Although Monoma’s unhinged personality can deter those around him, he is intelligent and strategic, taunting his opponents to gain the upper hand. Though Monoma may view himself as a side or supporting character, his Quirk can be exceptionally powerful when copying the right Quirk.
I can’t get stronger on my own. I don’t possess the right stuff to be the main character. I can’t walk down that straight, noble path like you people. Still, I don’t resent what I’ve been given. Because it’s necessary to pull off these masterful performances. The ones where the supporting roles… upstage the leads!!
Monoma played a pivotal role during the Final War and was instrumental to its success. In Chapter 344, Vlad King transports Monoma to the Central Hospital, where Kurogiri is confined. At this location, Aizawa Shota makes a specific request, inquiring whether Monoma can replicate Kurogiri’s Quirk. Although Monoma initially appears reluctant, he ultimately consents to the plan, exerting himself to acquire the Warp Quirk. Through Monoma’s acquisition of this Quirk, he successfully facilitated the separation of the villains to their respective locations, with the exception of Deku, who had been forcefully removed from his confrontation with Shigaraki Tomura.

My Hero Academia: All Might’s Role in Season 8, Explained
All Might has been the inspiration and envy of many; however, with this Quirkless body and prophesized upcoming fate, what is his role in Season 8?
Monoma’s contributions during the Final War were significant. In the Paranormal Liberation War arc, Aizawa Shota, famous for his Quirk Erasure, lost the use of his right eye and leg while fighting Shigaraki, rendering his Quirk mostly ineffective since it relies on both eyes. However, Aizawa could still use his Quirk, although not as effectively as before. This is why Monoma was called to support the battle. Despite Aizawa’s limitations, he still retained his Quirk, which allowed Monoma to take on the responsibility of copying it during the Final War.
S-s-s-staring role! There’s nothing you hate more than Erasure, Mr. Final Boss!!
Throughout the battle on U.A.’s Floating Fortress, Monoma, Manual, and Aizawa were on a separate building, watching the fight whilst ensuring the Erasure Quirk was still active. Although Monoma was not on the offensive team and was not a combatant, he was an essential part of the battle. If Monoma and Aizawa had not kept up the Erasure Quirk for as long as they have, Shigaraki Tomura, although he did not complete his body enhancements, would have made quick work of the heroes tasked to subdue him. Even with Erasure keeping Shigaraki at bay, he still severely wounded several heroes, including Bakugo Katsuki, who took a near-fatal attack to his chest.
However, this is where Monoma’s contributions end as the Twice Doubles created by Himiko Toga had begun to swarm the three, thanks to Kurogiri’s Warp, effectively separating the three, causing both Aizawa and Monoma to stop using the Erasure Quirk. During the swarm, Monoma took a heavy hit to the head, which left him barely conscious and in the care of Manga, another Class B student. Monoma was thus taken out of battle. However, his contributions ensured the villains were separated, and he and Aizawa could stall enough time for Midoriya Izuku to return to battle.

What Happens to Monoma After Graduation?
Monoma is Now Ranked at No.10 on the Hero Billboard Chart JP
One week after the Final War, Monoma and the students resumed classes as usual amidst the restoration efforts, helping where possible. During this time, the students graduated in their second year after seeing their third year off. In Chapter 429, we also see Monoma boasting about the statue he received in honor of his contributions towards the war. In pure Monoma fashion, he is shown gleefully bragging about his statue in front of U.A. High School and his classmates.
- Monoma is fiercely competitive with those who have stronger Quirks.
- Despite his eccentricities, he does care for his classmates in Class A.
As mentioned above, Monoma had always been insecure about where he stood in the hero society, given that his quirk relied on others to be used successfully. The relevance of his statue alongside many others in front of U.A. boosted his ego, once again fueling his competitiveness against those he deems as main characters. Eight years after the Final War, Monoma made a name for himself as a fully-fledged pro hero.
Deku mentions in Chapter 430 that Monoma and Honenuki Juzo “are also doing great,” implying that the two former Class B students are ranked relatively high on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. It was in Chapter 431 when it was revealed that Monoma was ranked within the top 10 Pro Heroes, surpassing Kirishima Eijiro and Bakugo Katsuki in the current rankings on the chart. While Bakugo’s fall in rankings was due to his abrasive personality, Monoma has clearly shown his hard work and dedication to becoming one of the top Pro Heroes.
My Hero Academia is now available to stream on Crunchyroll.
