Nyx is Warframe’s
master of chaos, dominating the battlefield with a wide range of crowd control tools and Radiation status ailments. She’s a powerhouse when used correctly, stripping enemy defenses with ease while making herself impervious to all incoming damage. While she might seem underwhelming on the surface, Nyx is a buildcrafter’s dream.

Versatility is Nyx’s main strength, allowing her to fit nearly every niche in the game. You can use her to become invincible, trivialize defense misisons, reduce the difficulty of Steel Path content, or dominate Liches with little issue. She’s a fantastic character that requires minimal investment to use.
How To Obtain Nyx
Nyx is obtained from Phorid, an Infested boss that only appears during Infested Invasions. A successful clear of the mission will drop a random Nyx component, with a slight bias against the systems dropping. Nyx’s main blueprint is purchased from the in-game market, costing 25,000 Credits.

How To Obtain Nyx Prime
Nyx Prime’s components are tied to Void Relics. Completing most content in Warframe has a chance of dropping a Void Relic, an item you can bring into a Void Fissure mission to crack open. Relics act like drop tables you select before starting a fissure mission, dropping one of six components at random when complete. Some of these Void Relics contain Nyx Prime components.
For a full list of Void Relics that drop Nyx Prime components, consult the Warframe wiki.
Prime component blueprints may be traded with other players. Once crafted, the item is no longer tradable.

Passive
Nyx gains +40% critical chance on primary and secondary weapons per confused enemy within Affinity range, up to +200%.
Most of Nyx’s abilities will inflict Confusion, a debuff that causes enemies to fight one another. Each enemy under this effect will grant you a critical chance bonus to your guns, up to +200 percent. This bonus is additive with other mods like Pistol Gambit and Point Strike.
Mind Control
Mind Control: Nyx seizes control of a target’s mind, compelling them to fight for the Tenno cause. Controlled enemies have increased Radiation status chance. When Nyx shoots them, they also have an increased damage multiplier.

Nyx digs into a target’s consciousness and begins to take control, enthralling the target for the next 60 seconds to fight by your side. During the first three seconds of this ability, all damage the target receives will be turned into a damage bonus for the target. This can drastically increase their damage output if you have a high DPS weapon to prime them with.
Mind-controlled targets deal 750% more damage by default. Damage dealt to an enthralled target during the start of this ability is additive with this bonus.
Strength has no bearing on this feature.
You may only have one enemy affected by Mind Control at a time, but this unit is going to be incredibly effective. The AI affected by this ability is significantly more aggressive, deals 750 percent more damage at baseline, and will stay close to Nyx for the ability’s duration. If they wander off, they’ll teleport next to you.
Psychic Bolts
Psychic Bolts: Nyx unleashes a volley of psychic bolts that track and strike nearby enemies with telekinetic precision. When enemies are slain, additional bolts scatter to new targets. Striking foes weakens their defenses and transfers a portion to Nyx.

With a flick of the wrist, Nyx launches six projectiles that seek out targets near your cursor. Each projectile strips 80% of a target’s defenses—consisting of armor and shields, two of the most common defenses in the game—while simultaneously slowing them by 20 percent. All of these effects are modified with Ability Strength, requiring roughly 130% Strength to fully strip a target’s defenses.
Nyx gains a portion of the stripped armor, shields, and Overguard as her own when the bolts tag a foe, up to a maximum that’s influenced by your Ability Strength. Without an augment, Psychic Bolts may tag up to six enemies at a time.
Chaos
Chaos: Nyx unleashes a devastating psychic pulse, disorienting enemies in a wide radius and forcing them to turn to each other. confused foes lash out at random factions.

A wave of psychic energy grips your foes, turning them against one another for a moderate duration. All enemies tagged by Chaos are Confused and debuffed with x10 Radiation stacks, greatly increasing their damage against other foes. Since these enemies are Confused, each enemy affected by Chaos will ramp up Nyx’s passive, increasing your critical chance with guns.
Chaos is a powerful crowd control ability due to its large radius, which you can extend further with Ability Range mods. Use this during an endless mission or defense activity to stop your opponents in their tracks, forcing them to attack one another while you recoup or eliminate any stragglers.
Absorb
Absorb: Nyx draws in and contains the damage dealt to her and the damage confused enemies deal to each other, then converts it into a devastating radial blast. Following the blast, she enters a brief invulnerable stats and gains a weapon damage bnoost proportional to the absorbed damage.

Nyx surrounds herself in psychic energy, making herself impervious to all incoming damage. For the next five seconds, Nyx will be unable to fire her weapons or use parkour maneuvers. All incoming damage is tallied on the top of your screen. When the ability ends, either prematurely or from hitting its maximum duration, you’ll detonate the shield, damaging all nearby targets.
The damage of the explosion is based on all incoming damage. All damage you tanked will also be converted into a weapon damage buff for the next eight seconds. This conversion rate is affected by Ability Strength, although you can’t get a damage buff over 400 percent.
All damage dealt by Confused enemies will count as absorbed damage while this ability is active.
If the weapon buff seems lackluster, you can run the Assimilate augment to trade this buff for a channeled variant of Absorb, allowing you to use weapons while invulnerable at the cost of a passive Energy tax while active.

Railjacks are another powerful tool in a Tenno’s arsenal. Learning how they work is key.
Nyx Augments
Nyx has access to five Augment mods for her skills, most of which enhance the functionality of her abilities instead of outright overhauling them. Most of these mods are obtained from Arbiters of Hexis or New Loka for 25,000 Standing. You must be at max rank with either Syndicate to purchase these mods. Alternatively, you can use player trading to obtain these mods from fellow Tenno.
The Singularity augment for Nyx is obtained from Conclave or the Nightwave shop. Nightwave’s offerings rotate weekly.
Mind Freak
Mind Control Augment: Controlled target inflicts +1,000% damage and gains +25% movement speed and attack speed.
Mind Freak is a straight upgrade to Mind Control, causing your dominated target to deal an extra 1,000 percent damage while gaining a boost to their attack speed and movement speed. These bonuses are not affected by Ability Strength and are additive with the other damage bonuses from this ability.
Pacifying Bolts
Psychic Bolts Augment: Throw an additional 3 bolts with guaranteed Radiation status. Enemies struck are confused for 10s.
Psychic Bolts will now fire nine projectiles and deal guaranteed Radiation status, tagging enemies with Confusion. This allows your second ability to ramp up Nyx’s passive criitcal chance buff, and it makes debuffing a group of enemies slightly easier due to the higher projectile count.
Chaos Sphere
Chaos Augment: Enemies entering the effect range will be inflicted with Chaos. Effect range lasts for 50% of the ability’s duration and shrinks over time.
Chaos now lingers when cast, inflicting Confusion to all enemies who enter its radius. Consequently, the skill will now shrink towards the second half of its duration. You can spec for Ability Duration to delay this effect, but it will occur regardless of your build.
Assimilate
Absorb Augment: Nyx can use weapons during Absorb and its duration is infinite, but it consumes 6.5 Energy per second and its area of effect is halved.
Absorb turns into a channeled ability that has infinite duration, keeping you invulnerable so long as you can keep the ability active. You’ll also be able to use all of your weapons while in Absorb, although you still won’t be able to use parkour maneuvers or slide. Melee stances are uninhibited by the movement penalties, so if you can bring a melee weapon with a highly mobile stance mod, this downside should hardly matter.
Singularity
Absorb Augment: Create a ring every 3s that drags in enemies at 9m/s.
Singularity is a PvP augment that can also be used in PvE content. This turns Absorb into a crowd control tool, pulling in targets from 15 meters away towards the ring’s epicenter. It’s a fairly weak CC ability compared to your subsume options, but it can be tailored for AoE nuke builds if you can stack the absorbed damage high enough.
Nyx Builds
We’ll be looking at two Nyx builds today, one for newer players and an endgame configuration for more experienced Tenno. Nyx doesn’t need much investment to get results, so you have a ton of flexibility with mods and loadout synergies here. If you aren’t planning on using her Assimilate augment, you can stay alive through Shield Gating or HP stacking.
Nyx doesn’t need any Archon Shards to excel. If you have some to spare, consider Parkour Velocity (Amber) and Equilibrium (Violet). You could also use a few Crimson Shards for Ability Duration or Strength, although that’s far from needed.
Starter Build (Zero Forma, No Subsume)

Archon Shards |

This is a standard Assimilate build that makes Nyx completely immortal. Doing so will require the use of the Assimilate augment, which allows you to maintain Absorb so long as you have sufficient Energy. If you can keep getting Energy, you can’t die.
That’s easy to accomplish with Equilibrium, a mod that allows you to pick up Health Orbs to gain Energy and vice versa. Primed Flow will increase your Energy reserve, and some Efficiency mods—Fleeting Expertise and Streamline—will ensure you hit the 175 Efficiency cap. Use Primed Continuity or the standard version to minimize the Duration penalty.
All of this is fairly overkill for most content, but this absolutely ensures that Absorb will not drop. You can always drop Equilibrium for a Strength mod if your Energy economy is strong. If you want to spam Chaos for crowd control, you’ll want to use Stretch and Augur Reach in the last two mod slots to cover as much ground as possible. Your choice of aura is completely down to preference.
If you have any Arcanes, use Molt Augmented to achieve 130% Strength after 125 kills. This is enough to make Psychic Bolts fully strip enemy defenses.
Endgame Build (Three Forma, No Subsume)

Wrathful Advance (Kullervo), Dispensary (Protea) |

This Nyx build focuses on making her Mind Control ability a strong DPS option for endgame content. We use the Mind Freak augment and some basic Strength scaling to drastically increase the damage of your enthralled target, allowing them to melt targets in an instant. We also trade some Efficiency and the Equilibrium mod for some Strength mods: Augur Secrets and Umbral Intensify. This ensures your Psychic Bolts will always strip defenses and makes your Mind Control ability incredibly strong.
You’ll want to throw on Growing Power for even more range and use Cunning Drift in your Exilus slot for a boost to your overall range; we only need it for Chaos. As for your Arcanes, Molt Efficiency gives a free 36 percent Duration at all times, and Arcane Consequence drastically increases your parkour velocity after landing a headshot, which buffs the speed of your combat rolls. If you want more Strength, run Molt Augmented instead.
Subsumes aren’t needed on Nyx due to her sheer utility, but you have a few options here:
-
Wrathful Advance (
Kullervo
): Gives you a teleport ability for cheap, making it much easier to reposition with Absorb active.
- Dispensary (Protea): For some strange reason, this removes most parkour restrictions on Assimilate, minus double jumping. It’s a great choice if you want to bullet jump while invincible.
