Pokemon Fan Shows Off Process of Creating Impressive Pikachu Wood Carving

Using their skills in wood carving, a Pokemon fan has created an impressive figure of Pikachu. Not only has the wood carving earned praise from the Pokemon community online, but the creator shared images detailing the hard work put into the project.

Few Pokemon are as famous as Pikachu. Introduced in the Gen 1 games, the Mouse Pokemon has been part of the franchise since the beginning. Widely regarded as the Pokemon franchise mascot, many fans know and love Pikachu. Given its stardom, it has become the subject of many fan projects, including wood carvings.

A Pokemon fan artist carves a small figurine of the Paradox critter Scream Tail and shares their impressive handiwork for others to see.

Recently, a Pokemon fan known as Ormalll revealed their wooden Pikachu figure and shared the creation process for others to see. According to the images, the wood carver began the project by outlining the rough shape of the Pokemon on a block of wood. Once complete, they used what appeared to be some sort of chisel and carving knife to begin whittling away the excess wood. The block was then smoothed down to better represent Pikachu’s body. In addition to the body, Ormalll carved arms, legs, and ears that attached to the figure. They even made the iconic lightning bolt tail of the Pokemon.

After assembling the body, Ormalll added the classic details of the Electric-type Pokemon. According to the creator, the white dots in the eyes and the red cheeks were added using acrylic paint. All the other details, such as the black tips on the ears and the banding on the back, were applied using a wood burning pencil. After completing all the steps, Ormalll was left with an impressive replica of Pikachu made out of wood.

As one of the most popular Pokemon in the franchise, many fans have enjoyed the in-depth look at the process of creating the Pikachu figure. The post already has more than 4.5K upvotes on Reddit, with numerous users complimenting the creator. Impressively, Ormalll revealed they had only been wood carving for several months. Based on their comments, they have more projects planned for the future.

While Ormalll has revealed their plans to continue making more figures, other fans have been busy creating wood carvings of their own. Recently, another gamer created wood figures of Grimer and Bulbasaur, capturing the iconic appearances of the very different-looking Pokemon.
