New Monster Hunter Wilds Theory May Have Revealed The Origins Of Zoh Shia

Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most lore-rich titles in the entire Monster Hunter series. While the title is perceived as being easier than its predecessors, the handler Alma makes things feel real, Wyvern Milk was added to explain certain situations, and we finally found out more about the Artian equipment and the series’ post-apocalyptic setting. Stuff like this, the game’s director says, is what keeps players coming back to the series.

One creature, that has required a lot of fan interpretation, though, is the Zoh Shia. The game’s final pre-credits boss has been hidden away for years, siphoning its power while it sleeps, only to attack when approached.

The monster’s origins are ambiguous, but after a few weeks, players think they’ve figured out where it came from.

It’s a big part of Monster Hunter Wilds’ story that Guardian monsters were created to defend an ancient civilization. And it seems like Zoh Shia is no different. However, up until this point, almost all Guardian monsters were created based on preexisting monsters. So, where did Zoh Shia come from?

The first part of the theory has been floating around for some time— that it’s an amalgamation of many different monsters, including the deadly Fatalis. This is based on its varied move pool. It has attacks from three different versions of Fatalis, Safi’jiiva, Shara Ishvalda, Gaismagorm, and Alatreon. It’s conceivable that it was created using different parts of each of these creatures.

However, a new discovery, shared on Reddit by user JackNewbie555, has added credence to the fact that Zoh Shia is mainly built around Fatalis.

JackNewbie found that in the second phase of the Zoh Shia fight, the monster reveals its eyes, and these eyes are strikingly similar to those of the veteran wyvern, Fatalis. Both monsters have yellow eyeballs with a black, diamond-shaped slit down the middle of them.

There’s every possibility then, based on this, that Zoh Shia was primarily built off of Fatalis DNA, but with parts of other monsters thrown in there. Interesting.
