Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, superheroes are everywhere these days. Many of Marvel’s biggest heroes have become household names, the film and TV spaces have been filled with superhero stories, and even video games have tapped into the market. That being said, there are some heroes that have not had the best of luck, no matter how much the studio tried. Specifically, Marvel’s Incredible Hulk has seemingly been left to gather dust, but LEGO could fix that.
While Bruce Banner may be an integral part of the MCU, the last time he got to shine in his own solo project was back in 2008. Since then, Marvel has done very little with the character outside appearances in other films. As of now, it does not seem like that will be changing anytime soon, but if the studio did want to finally do the character justice, then it may want to hand the reins off to LEGO for a bit. Not only has the brand shown that it can make some stellar video games, but its entire formula could fit Hulk very well.

Marvel Has Struggled to Make a Hulk Project For a While
Shortly after Iron Man kicked off the MCU with great success, the universe expanded with the release of The Incredible Hulk. This film introduced viewers to the MCU’s version of the iconic character, played by Edward Norton at the time. While it was not met with the same critical response as Iron Man, fans still loved following the character as he fought with himself and against the powerful Abomination. However, for a multitude of reasons, the character has not led his own project since.
Instead, Bruce Banner has been relegated to side character status and Norton has been replaced by Mark Ruffalo. He has appeared in every Avengers movie to date, played a significant role in Thor: Ragnarok, and shined in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Additionally, many of the characters from The Incredible Hulk got to see their stories continued in Captain America: Brave New World, but Banner was absent. There have been rumors surrounding the possibility of another solo outing, but it does not seem like that will happen anytime soon.
LEGO Feels Tailormade for a Hulk Video Game
While Marvel Studios may not be giving Hulk another solo movie for a long time, LEGO may be the perfect place for him to finally get his time to shine. For starters, LEGO games are filled to the brim with destructible objects. All the studio has to do is take that concept, expand it to massive destructible environments, and then let players loose within it. They could battle through the streets of New York, send Hulk to another planet, or bring the character to various MCU locations to wreak havoc on them.
Of course, this Hulk game would also need to have a good story to back up all the destruction. LEGO could just take the stories of The Incredible Hulk and Banner’s MCU adventures and LEGO-fy them. However, it may be better if the studio actually told a new original tale instead. Traveller’s Tales has shown it can handle telling a fully original superhero tale through the LEGO Batman and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes franchises, so there is seemingly no reason it could not do the same for the Hulk. And if Traveller’s Tales does not do it, then LEGO’s new in-house studio should.
As of now, there is no news on what the future of Hulk will look like. There is a strong chance he appears in the next Avengers movies, but outside of that, fans of the character may have nothing to turn to. So, if Marvel Studios is unable to create a solo adventure, then a video game developer really needs to, and thanks to its tried-and-true formula, LEGO is best for the job.
