How To Solve The Monkey King Puzzle In Split Fiction

In Split Fiction’s Hopes of Spring chapter, you’ll end up facing off against the Monkey King on your way to fight the Ice King. Except this isn’t a traditional boss battle fight, but is more of a puzzle. A monkey puzzle, if you will. Like the tree? That joke would have slayed if you were an arborist, trust me.

Split Fiction: Where To Find Every Bench

There are six different benches spread across the chapters for Mio and Zoe to sit on.

Anyway, it can be a little tricky to figure out exactly what the Monkey King wants from you, so that’s where we come in. It’s not necessarily that difficult, but it can be mighty confusing to understand how to please the king. But be confused no longer.

How To Solve The Monkey King’s First Puzzle

Hopping to Monkey King platforms in Split Fiction

The first challenge from the Monkey King is to leap to each podium in turn, following his pattern. It’s a little like Simon Says – you just follow what he does. If you fail, you only have to start over that round, so it shouldn’t be too tough to get past. It appears the order is random, so it will need to be a case of reacting each time and matching the Monkey King’s steps. Other than that, there’s not much to it.

How To Solve The Monkey King’s Second Puzzle

The Monkey King’s second puzzle is a little trickier. This one asks you to form a conga line, which seems simple enough. However, there is a specific trick to it. Mio needs to collect the pink monkeys, and Zoe needs to collect the green monkeys. For the first stage, collecting all of the monkeys will open the left wall.

Once the wall opens go past it and collect the next monkeys. This opens the right wall. Collect those, and you’ll open the back wall. The careful thing here is to not crash into each other. If the lines collide, the monkeys will run off. When this happens, just one player should gather theirs first, then take them out of the way.

Looping in a circle is a good way to keep the conga line close together

Once all the walls are open, there’s one more thing to do. You each then need to gather up all of the monkeys and walk them onto the dance floor. Every single monkey needs to be on the dance floor and in a conga line at the same time to pass the challenge. Mio should walk in a loop on the left, while Zoe should walk in a loop on the right, and take care not to crash into each other. Because the monkeys scatter, if you do crash, it is best to have one player gather theirs first while the other leaves them alone.

How To Solve The Monkey King’s Third Puzzle

Thankfully, the third puzzle is more like the first. Again, it’s a simple Simon Says activity, but you will need to be a little faster here. It’s also randomised again, so we can’t tell you the steps. As the Monkey King dances, he will call out a direction. Tap the stick in that direction to perform the dance move. If you fail, it’s just that step to repeat again. Once you go through all the steps, the Monkey King moves aside.
