Helldivers 2 CEO Grants Players’ Wishes By Asking Devs “Minigun When?”

There’s a lot going on in Helldivers 2 right now. The Meridia black hole has devoured another planet on its path to Super Earth. And, while Helldivers have been mowing down the enemy in great numbers, it’s doing nothing to stop the cosmic threat of the black hole and the eventual full-scale assault of the Illuminate.

Portable Hellbombs and souped-up Sickles are definitely helpful, we’re going to need something even bigger if we’re going to defeat the horrors in store for us. It seems Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani is in agreement with the community and may even help with a weapon that we’ve been requesting for a long time.

Is Helldivers 2 Getting A Minigun?

As spotted by GameRant, one fan asked Jorjani on the Helldivers 2 Discord server about the possibility of introducing the VNS-2 Purger minigun from Killzone 4: Liberation. Considering we’ve already got a crossover between the two IPs, it’s not too farfetched to imagine.

“Since you’re one of the most approachable devs who is active here (and a minigun supporter) I wish to share this idea,” said the fan. “This is the Vns2 Purger. A minigun system from Killzone 4: Shadowfall. 600 rounds. No reload. No backpack. Overheats after 75 rounds and the duration of overheat is short.” This actually feels pretty well thought out, and won’t really mess with the game’s systems.

Arrowhead is now giving away its second load of crossover cosmetics for free.

“Thanks for the suggestion,” replied Jorjani. “I sit next to the weapons guy. I’ll ask ‘minigun when’ again.” It seems that the boss is a fan of miniguns too, and may even nudge the devs to put one into Helldivers 2. I have to admit, a minigun against the Voteless horde or a bug breach sounds too good to pass up.

The Servants of Freedom warbond is widely considered one of the best That Arrowhead has put out, but if we were to get a minigun in a future warbond, there’s little doubt that it will rank among the best in Helldivers 2.
