Death Standing 2: On The Beach somehow received its longest trailer yet during a Hideo Kojima-hosted panel at this year’s SXSW. During that panel, it was confirmed that the wait for Kojima Productions’ highly-anticipated sequel isn’t long at all. Death Stranding 2 will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025, and pre-orders will be available starting on March 17, 2025.
That means, for almost everyone reading this, they will be available now, although if you’re reading this days or weeks after it was published, I can’t promise the pricey collector’s edition will still be available. Whether you’re keen to spend more than $200 on your copy of Death Stranding 2 so you get the edition with all the extras, or you’d rather just spend the standard $70 for the game and its pre-order bonuses, everything you need to know about securing a copy ahead of release day can be found below.

As was the case with the first Death Stranding, Death Stranding 2 has a big and expensive collector’s edition. If you want everything On The Beach has to offer, and there’s a lot, you will need to pay $230 for the privilege. Along with a copy of the game – which isn’t a given with collector’s editions – you will get art cards, a Dollman figurine, and even a letter from Kojima himself. Best of all, and the reason the collector’s edition costs so much, is the 15-inch Magellan Man statue it comes with.
While you do get the game with Death Stranding 2’s collector’s edition, it controversially doesn’t come with a physical copy, just a digital download code.
If you want to find out what’s in store for Sam in Death Stranding 2 but don’t want to pay more than $200 for the privilege, don’t worry, there are other editions, one of which is less than a third of the price of the collector’s edition. There’s the standard edition that comes with some in-game pre-order bonuses if you buy it before release day, and a slightly more expensive digital deluxe edition. The deluxe edition comes with the same pre-order bonuses as well as even more in-game items and 48 hours of early access.

Embark on an inspiring mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam—with companions by his side—sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?

What We Know So Far About Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
You would think with each trailer lasting more than ten minutes and its release date fast approaching that we would know more about Death Stranding 2. We know that Sam and Fragile are back, and the trailer confirming the sequel’s release date has confirmed the pair are an item, although a slip-up from Sam’s actor Norman Reedus all but confirmed that almost three years ago.
Despite the original Death Stranding finally coming to Xbox in 2024, five years on from its original release, that doesn’t appear to have been to generate interest on a new platform ready for On The Beach. No sign of Death Stranding 2 coming to anything but PS5 at launch with PC and Xbox players being made to wait. Hopefully that wait won’t be five years long again for the latter.
