MLB The Show 25 can deliver some exciting and challenging moments when playing as a shortstop, but not every team will be the best pick going into the draft. Going to a team that already has a strong shortstop will only make your path out of the minor leagues longer in Road to the Show.

Despite being the second-best team in the league, the Braves are in the bottom five teams when it comes to shortstop ratings. They have 80+ OVR rated players at almost every other position, and that gives you an extremely strong supporting cast that could reliably make the playoffs.
With your strongest competition having just a 70 OVR rating, playing consistently well in Road to the Show might get you called up to the majors after just a year or two. The one risk with this option would be the Braves acquiring a better shortstop while you’re working in the minor leagues, and in that case, you might want to ask your agent about being traded.

Having a higher-rated target to replace once you reach the majors will likely give you more time to develop and improve your player against less challenging competition in the minor leagues. This could also give you time to work on upgrading perks as well as your own ratings before taking on major league opponents. The Diamondbacks have a solid enough roster that they should remain contenders in the coming years, and your shortstop could be a big part of that after developing them in Road to the Show.

If that’s the goal, spend all your early tokens on attribute upgrades instead of perks. Improving attributes will boost your overall rating quicker, and you’ll still be able to upgrade perks after you’ve powered your way into the major leagues.
