Players shouldn’t ignore some of the brilliant side activities in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Here are the game’s best side quests.
So, if players went through the base game fine, but wish it ran better on their PC, offered more fine-tuning options, want some way to break the game in their favor, or have the game break them beyond its difficulty settings, these mods for FF7: Rebirth should give them what they’re after and more so.

FFVII DLSS4-FSR4-XeSS-FrameGen and AVX2 Emulation
Opening the Game Up to Older Setups
FFVII DLSS4-FSR4-XeSS-FrameGen and AVX2 Emulation isn’t the snappiest title for a mod, but as far as tech mods go, it does what it says on the tin. It’s basically an upscaler mod that helps reshade the graphics while maintaining the frame rate via frame generation. The mod even offers ultra-widescreen support.
It also makes the game functional on older CPUs by using the Intels SDE tool to emulate AVX2 functions. While it won’t suddenly make the game compatible with Windows XP or other old operating systems, it will let the game function at playable frame rates on an overclocked I7 or Xeon. For people with limited options, this mod could be a godsend.

Free or 1-Cost Craft Items
Taking the Legwork Out of Craft Work
Crafting items in video games can be fun. By putting the right materials together, they can develop a new weapon or piece of equipment that could help smooth out the next combat encounter or provide some new perk. The downside is that the best items require rarer materials, which can be a pain and a half to find, requiring searching in every nook and cranny, or grinding out combat encounters until it drops.
Gantz79 takes away that pain of hunting down one obscure mineral or another by introducing Free or 1-Cost Craft Items. Now those special weapons, armor or equippable items can become a breeze to get by being readily available to make, or by needing just one item to make. Just don’t select the ‘Check Materials’ option or craft more than one item at a time, or it could softlock the game.

All Enemies’ HP Increased
When the Competition Needs to Get More Competitive
Most mods in the game are dedicated to making the game a breeze to play, like taking the stress out of crafting or making the ATB gauge charge faster. But there are players out there who want a challenge, and the game’s vanilla options often aren’t enough. So, Gantz79 came up with a quick way to offer that challenge with their All Enemies’ HP Increased mod.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: 10 Hardest Bosses, Ranked
Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has plenty of difficult bosses, and here are the hardest ones in the JRPG.
As the title suggests, it boosts every enemy’s HP gauge by 2.5 to 5 times their base value. That way, even the basic foes can stretch players’ knowledge of the game, making them collect more recovery items or attain higher levels to keep up with them. While the big bosses will require more spice on top of their high-level play, summons, and spells to bring them down for good.

4K Upscaled Textures
High Deaths in Hi-Def
Not everyone has a titanic setup to play their PC games, but the few that do have 4K screens and the rigs to match are going to want something that makes the most of their investment. Even FF7: Rebirth, as pretty as it is, can seem more average to those who have gotten used to 4K’s rich details. Which is where Romi969 comes in.
They’ve made mods for the playable cast that upscale their skin and clothing textures to 4K level. As of this writing, they’ve managed 4K Upscaled Textures for Tifa, Cloud, Aerith, Barret, and Yuffie, alongside separate upscalers for the environment (NaturalFantasy) and interiors. If players have enough storage space and a beefy enough rig, they could combine them all to get the best-looking version of FF7: Rebirth around.
6
Fast ATB Never Stop and Limit
Keeping the Combat Going
FF7: Remake and Rebirth offer real-time combat but still use the original game’s ATB (Active Time Battle) system. They take the form of gauges where party members can spend chunks of it on items, magic and summons depending on their materia set-ups. That’s not to mention the Limit Gauge where, once full, players can pull off their party’s different Limit Break skills.
Players can make it charge faster with the Haste spell. But with Gantz79’s Fast ATB Never Stop and Limit mod, they can make the ATB gauge charge fast by default, and Caution, Action, Guard, Damage and Dodge commands won’t stop it from building up. Likewise, the Limit gauge charges up twice as fast, making it easier to pull off multiple Limit Breaks per battle.
5
Fantasy Optimizer
Smoothing Out Rebirth’s Wrinkles
Depending on one’s setup, players are bound to end up tweaking their games one way or another to get the best performance. There are in-game options that can help this, though it can result in needing to lower performance to allow smoother gameplay. Though with the help of mods like FrancisLouis’ Fantasy Optimizer, players can gain more options.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Best Party Compositions
FF7 Rebirth adds more heroes to the mix, but some work together better than others. Here are the strongest teams players can put together.
The mod aims to help players get the most out of their setup while maintaining their ideal visual settings and keeping the gameplay stable. They can alter the shader handling to avoid stutters, provide smoother asset streaming, manage their CPU and GPU resources more effectively, and reduce the number of unnecessary background processes. If players have been having trouble with FF7: Rebirth’s performance, this mod should help them out.
4
Hoarder-Max Stack Increase
Turning the Party’s Storage Space into a Warehouse
It can be hard to let go of some items in games, even when they should be spent. Some players like to hold onto key items or powerups until they “need them”, only to end up beating the game without using them at all. Conversely, even with an in-game limit of 99 per item, those health potions and recovery items can run out fast when shared out among multiple party members.
Sofas was certainly bothered by it, so they made the Hoarder-Max Stack Increase mod. Now, players can hold up to 9,999 consumables and crafting items. This way, players can end up with more than enough recovery items to keep their party going, and more materials for crafting multiple weapons. That is, if they don’t want to combine it with the Free or 1-Cost Items mod.
3
Max Materia Slots
More Baubles Than a Christmas Tree
Be it Remake, Rebirth, or the original game, FF7’s gameplay revolves around Materia. Each weapon and piece of equipment comes with slots for players to put these little wonder marbles in. They can help boost its stats, provide elemental attacks, and a whole range of other perks. But players usually have a limited number of materia slots to work with per item.
These limited slots were put in place to make players consider which materia to prioritize over others. But if they use Synthlight’s Max Materia Slots mod, they can take away this guesswork, as it gives each item 8 Materia slots in 4 pairs. Players can even toggle whether it applies to Weapons Only, Armor Only, Skills, or All Items if they want to break the game entirely.
2
Most Combative Team Members
Help Cloud and the Gang Unlock Their Inner Rage
The original game was a classic turn-based affair, but Remake and Rebirth opted for a more real-time style of play. This way, while players can still swap control between their different party members, the ones not in their control will keep fighting depending on their AI. They work out pretty well, but for some, they could do with being more aggressive in combat.

Which is why Gantz79 developed their Most Combative Team Members mod, which will make everyone in the party more willing to go all-in against their foes. It’s based on how they behave when an enemy is staggered, so they can dogpile them without sacrificing their defense. Gantz79 recommends pairing it up with their All Enemies’ HP Increased mod to put a bigger dent in their newly increased life bars.

Ultimate Engine Tweaks
The Ultimate Quality-of-Life Upgrade Mod
There are plenty of mods to help players optimize the game for their setup in different ways, from the Emulation mod to the Fantasy Optimizer. However, if players want to go for the most highly recommended mod of the bunch, they should check out P40L0’s Ultimate Engine Tweaks mod. Through it, players could eliminate input latency, stutters and more without compromising the graphics or developing bugs.
It offers more options to tweak DLSS/FSR upscaling, refine CPU/GPU resources, RAM and SSD usage, remove Film Grain and Chromatic Abberation, and more. While it’s not compatible with other visual mods, it does require an updated version of emoose’s FFVIIHook mod. That way it can access the dev-console and INI files. Once done, it should clear up any issues the player had with their game while keeping its visuals crisp and clear.
