Battlefield 2042 Player Pulls Off Nearly Impossible RPG Shot

Summary

  • A Battlefield 2042 player has wowed the community with a recent RPG shot.
  • The user managed to expertly place an RPG missile shot to eliminate an enemy helicopter.
  • Playtests for the next Battlefield game are currently underway.

A Battlefield 2042 player recently made an incredible RPG shot, taking out an enemy helicopter from nearly across the map. Following several years of post-launch improvement and a bettering sentiment surrounding the game, EA made the decision to end post-launch support for Battlefield 2042 last year with Season 7 as developer DICE works on the next Battlefield game, which just recently started closed playtesting.

One of the biggest ways Battlefield has stood apart from its multiplayer FPS competitors like Call of Duty is the franchise’s use of vehicular combat. One of the hallmarks of the franchise’s sandbox-style gameplay is giving players access to large trucks, tanks, helicopters, and more, while also giving players tools like RPG missiles and C4 to help take such enemy vehicles out of commission. Because of this, Battlefield has become known for its “only in Battlefield” moments: impressive and sometimes shocking gameplay clips that push the boundaries of what’s possible to pull off in a Battlefield match.

For All Its Flaws, Battlefield 2042 Has One Feature That BF6 Should Expand Upon

Battlefield 2042 had more than its fair share of problems, but there’s one 2042 feature that deserves another chance in the spotlight.

On Twitter, Dexerto shared a clip of Battlefield 2042 player ryefry77 expertly placing an RPG missile shot to eliminate an enemy helicopter. The short clip shows the player running in pursuit of a Battlefield 2042 chopper on a rocky hilltop before patiently going prone and carefully leading an RPG shot as the helicopter flies farther away over a distant harbor area. What’s impressive is just how far the user had to track the helicopter to make the shot, as the rocket took a good three full seconds before its date with the unfortunate enemy chopper pilot. Like a golfer holding their breath after a swing, ryefry77 confidently withheld from instantly reloading the RPG and instead sat there in ADS with an empty launcher waiting and watching for the shot to land.

Battlefield 2042 Player Hits an Incredible RPG Shot

In the comments of the Dexerto Twitter post, a debate among Battlefield fans took place about whether ryefry77’s chopper takedown was all skill or just luck. The player seems to possess a ton of prowess, and this may not have been their first attempt at hitting such an impressive RPG shot in Battlefield. With that said, there is still a bit of luck involved, as the helicopter stayed the course after the shot was fired and didn’t deviate at all from its path in the time it took for the rocket to arrive. Any flight adjustment from the pilot would’ve very likely resulted in a miss.

It’s good to see that players are still enjoying Battlefield 2042 even after EA ended seasonal support for the game. With the next Battlefield seemingly around the corner and playtests having recently kicked off, Battlefield 2042 may still serve as the go-to game for fans of the franchise who are still looking for a slightly more futuristic experience, as the next Battlefield has confirmed its modern-day setting.
