WWE 2K25 Players Really Aren't Happy With The Steam Release

Summary

  • The PC version of WWE 2K25 on Steam is sitting at “Mixed” reviews, with fans taking aim at it being a “last-gen” port.
  • Indeed, the game’s marquee feature, “The Island,” is not available on the PC version of the game, even if players have more than the recommended specs.
  • Elsewhere, users wrote of crashes and difficulty spikes, making the game one they cannot recommend others purchase.

March is finally upon us, and beyond the likes of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Split Fiction, it also means another installment in 2K’s annualized WWE 2K franchise. Next up, WWE 2K25.

Ahead of its global release, 2K updated Jey Uso’s entrance to be more in line with his real-life entrance, complete with fan interactions. Meanwhile, one creative user decided to make heel John Cena from this year’s Elimination Chamber, even going as far as to add his bald spot.

That said, it appears that not everyone is as happy with WWE 2K25, namely those on PC. As it stands, the game is at “Mixed” review status based on over 600 reviews to date.

The PC Port Isn’t Exactly “Current-Gen”

Going off the available reviews, it appears that the vast majority of PC players are none too happy that the version that exists on Steam isn’t the same that is available on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series consoles. Rather, it’s based on the “last-gen” version of the game, meaning The Island social hub is not available.

“Until they give us the same thing console players are getting, I can’t give this a thumbs up,” one user wrote.

Other users took issue with the fact that Community Creations, an integral part of the game experience, are not compatible with other systems. “Downloading created wrestlers was half of the fun for me,” a review wrote. “I absolutely don’t recommend this game unless they can somehow patch it and enable cross-platform with new gen consoles.”

Elsewhere, crashes were also mentioned, as were difficulty spikes in the Showcase mode. It’s highly unlikely that 2K retroactively adds The Island, though there is some hope for a Community Creations update. Either way, it isn’t a good look for a full-priced game.
