After its recent launch, 2K’s WWE 2K25 has received “Mixed” reviews on Steam from players. Player complaints about WWE 2K25 on PC seem to be primarily centered on one massive issue that is unlikely to be rectified post-launch.
Upon its release, WWE 2K25 was met with strong reviews from critics, and many pointed out that it was the best iteration the series has seen in years, arriving on the back of a rocky period. It achieved a Top Critic Average of 82 on review score aggregator OpenCritic, with 88% of critics recommending it to gamers. With a massive roster of wrestlers and plenty of game modes to choose from, it seemed that WWE 2K25 was primed for success across the board. However, some Steam players don’t quite feel the same way.

WWE 2K25‘s Steam reviews have now fallen to a “Mixed” rating, after just 62% of players gave it a positive review. Looking through the reviews, many highlight the positive features, including WWE 2K25‘s strong in-ring wrestling gameplay. However, many gamers have taken issue with the fact that the PC version appears to be based on the last-gen version of WWE 2K25, making it inferior to the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions despite the premium price tag.
WWE 2K25 Faces ‘Mixed’ Player Reviews on Steam
The biggest issue with this is that WWE 2K25‘s new The Island game mode isn’t available on PC. This multiplayer game mode is exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of WWE 2K25, and was advertised as a big feature coming into the latest iteration. Many Steam reviews reference the lack of The Island, while others were annoyed that Community Creations are split across platforms, leaving PC players unable to get many of the most popular custom creations from other gamers. Because The Island is such a major feature, it’s unlikely that Visual Concepts will be able to add it to the PC version easily, so players shouldn’t expect to see this resolved any time soon.
There’s still much to come for WWE 2K25 players across all platforms. In the wake of the game’s launch, WWE 2K25 has revealed its DLC release schedule, showcasing all the post-launch support players will have access to throughout the rest of 2025. Hopefully, this can go some way to improving Steam players’ opinion of WWE 2K25.
