Monster Hunter Wilds features many special items only available in one specific region, and the Hunters can gather these items if they know where to look for them. These special items are often used in trading with locals after reaching High Ranks for rare items.

Great Hibiscus is needed for one of Monster Hunter Wilds’ secret armor sets. Here’s where to find it.
The Scarlet Amber Shard is also a special item in the game, and you’ll often notice it requested by local traders for either cooking ingredients or resources to forge weapons and armor. Finding the Scarlet Amber Shard is quite easy, and here’s how you can do it.
Where To Find The Scarlet Amber Shard
The Scarlet Amber Shard is found in abundance in the Scarlet Forest. You can find multiple Amber Deposits in Areas 2, 12, and 13 of the Scarlet Forest.
If you’re having trouble looking for it, you can also open the map and mark these red icons with a tiny question mark on them as a way point, and your Seikret will lead you to them automatically.
When you approach an Amber Deposit, you’ll immediately be able to spot it because of the scoutflies and the resource’s unique amber-colored appearance. Amber Deposits refresh after 15 minutes, so you can continue to farm this item repeatedly without any fear of it ever running out.
There’s also the Eternal Scarlet Amber Shard, but you can only gather this specific version of the item when the Colossal Amber Emergence event is ongoing in the Scarlet Forest. The Eternal Scarlet Amber Shard is also used for trading with locals but is worth more than regular Scarlet Amber Shards.
How To Use The Scarlet Amber Shard
Scarlet Amber Shard is primarily used to trade with the locals of the Forbidden Island. These locals are the ones that you’ve befriended during the story. You can simply go talk to Nata and see every local trader’s requests from his menu, and that would save you the trouble of approaching each trader individually.
