Mew is a rare inclusion in the Pokemon video games but luckily appears more frequently in the Pokemon TCG. While it’s still a special occasion when Mew graces a set with its presence, you’ll find certain sets stand out with superior variety and quality.

These are the best cards from the Sun & Moon era.
However, one of the most famous Mew cards misses out, as the sole Mew available in Dragon Frontiers might be expensive, but it’s not enough to warrant dropping thousands of dollars to open that valuable vintage set. Aside from that notable exclusion, there are plenty of other sets that offer stellar artwork of Mew, with a range of options to fit most budgets.

Holon Phantoms
Two Mew
Holon Phantoms is known for having some of the most expensive cards in the history of the TCG, including gorgeous Gold Stars. Mew’s appearances in Holon Phantoms are beautiful, with one of the cards featuring an iconic depiction of Mew with its tail behind it in an ‘S’ shape.
Unfortunately, the biggest downside of opening Holon Phantoms is the massive price the set commands. Each pack will cost over $500, depending on where you buy it. Despite the incredibly high bar of entry, the two Mew cards you can find in this set boast high raw values, totaling over $250 combined. While the real value comes via grading these cards, this set is worth a look if you love Mew.
5
Expedition
Two Mew
Another exorbitantly expensive set where you’ll find stunning Mew artwork is Expedition, with two options to choose from in this e-reader set.
Mew also shares this set with its eternal rival, Mewtwo, who also boasts two cards to collect in this set, making Expedition a great choice if you can’t choose a favorite Mew.
Despite lacking much variety, given that the two arts are identical, each Mew card in Expedition is worth celebrating, even though the lesser one won’t help recuperate much of your output when opening this set. Mew’s docile, sweet depiction in this set is one of the most calming scenes in the TCG.
4
Paldean Fates
Two Mew
What Paldean Fates lacks in the variety of valuable Mew cards it contains, it compensates for by giving us two of the most vibrant depictions of Mew in its shiny form that you can find. The shiny Mew ex full art is beautiful on its white background, and the Special Illustration Rare speaks for itself.

From popular promos, to terrifying trainers, these are the most expensive cards from the Scarlet & Violet era.
Paldean Fates was slept on for months, and its Mew cards are prime examples of formerly inexpensive cards that suddenly skyrocketed in value as they gained more attention and thus, hype. Even if you miss out on the top Mew chase cards in Paldean Fates, chances are you’ll get another solid card from this set, given Mew is joined by the set’s stunning Charizard chase card.

Unified Minds
Three Mew
Unified Minds brings three Mew cards to the table, but they come with two very important caveats:
- Two of the three cards feature the same artwork but different color palettes.
- Each of the three cards is shared with Mew’s rival, Mewtwo.
If you enjoy this set’s Mew artwork, then you won’t have to restrict yourself to just one version, as Unified Minds boasts a full art and secret rare with a well-shared canvas, and a third action shot to complete the trio.
Unified Minds is one of the best Sun & Moon sets for a reason, as the generation’s iconic rainbow Secret Rare design shines brightly here. While these designs are polarizing, the variety of designs and colors should satisfy a range of audiences, especially if you like detailed depictions of fierce battles.
2
Scarlet & Violet 151
Four Mew
Scarlet & Violet: 151 will go down in Pokemon TCG history as one of the most important landmark sets that triggered a revitalized interest in the competitive and collecting sides of the TCG.
The only downside to the Mew in this set is that three cards feature identical artwork, with two gold versions (one metal card, one regular card) and a sole pink version flaunting the simple Mew on a swirling pink background. Despite having four Mew cards, none of them are particularly expensive, but if you’re most interested in pulling a card featuring Mew, then this set gives you one of the best chances.
1
Fusion Strike
Six Mew
Lastly, we have Fusion Strike, a valuable set that features a strong collection of expensive cards, including two alternate arts that will captivate you. The Mew V and VMAX alt arts both boast Mew as the massive focal point of each card, with the V version offering a serene scene with other Pokemon whereas the VMAX imposes utter chaos onto the canvas.
Despite their stylistic differences, both the Mew V and VMAX are incredibly valuable cards, though the VMAX boasts roughly a $100 price advantage. Whichever Mew card you prefer in this set, you’ll be satisfied by Fusion Strike’s superb variety, value, and affordability. Even if you miss out on Mew, you have a chance at one of the best modern Pokemon TCG cards as a consolation.
