Pokemon Pocket: Best Pokemon Abilities

These Pokemon abilities have the potential to change the tide of battle.

Rare cards are identified by their three diamond icons in the bottom left-hand corner and can be essential to get your deck going. This rarity is exclusively filled with Pokemon, not a single Trainer in sight. If you’re wondering what the best rare cards in the game are, we scoured the Pokedex to get them all.

Kabutops

Slash Them To Pieces

Kabutops Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Art.

An often overlooked card, Kabutops is a strong attacker who has a lot of sustaining power in a little package. With its Leech Life attack, which costs only one Fighting Energy, you get an attack that deals 40 damage and then heals Kabutops for that much damage.

You can scale Kabutops up in damage with the Space-Time Smackdown card Lucario, which buffs your Fighting Pokemon’s damage by 20 points. The buff to the damage lets Kabutops heal for 60 HP instead, keeping it a threat in play for longer..

Vileplume

Off To Sleepy Time Junction

Sometimes, consistency is more important than high-powered attacks, and Vileplume represents this in the best way possible. While the Stage 2 Pokemon might take some time to set up, you can lock your opponent down with its attack.

Soothing Scent automatically puts your opponent’s Pokemon to sleep when you get the attack off while also dealing a solid 80 damage. It will only take an attack or two to take out most other Pokemon, and if you can keep them aslep, there’s no chance to counterattack.

8

Tauros

The ex Counter

Ex Pokemon are the main attackers for many decks in Pokemon Pocket, but Tauros is here to keep them in check. With just one attack, Fighting Tackle, you can deal a significant amount of damage in a single attack.

Fighting Tackle deals 40 damage normally, and when you’re up against an ex Pokemon, you can deal a total of 120 damage. That’s more than enough to take out the smaller HP exs, like Pikachu ex, with one attack and to deal a significant blow to any other ex Pokemon.

7

Gengar

Just Say No

Not every rare Pokemon is a bastion of strength and overwhelming power, sometimes they’re more of a utility pick to shut down your opponent’s plans before they can even get started. The Stage 2 Gengar is just one of those Pokemon.

Pokemon Pocket: Every Supporter Ranked

The perfect supporter cards can change the way your deck plays. We rank every supporter card in the game.

For one Psychic Energy, you get access to the Bother attack, which deals 50 damage and locks your opponent out of using Supporter cards during their turn. Some of the stronger Trainer cards in Pokemon Pocket are Supporters, with cards like Professor’s Research and Sabrina no longer able to get them out of a tight situation.

6

Alakazam

Read Their Minds So Hard It Hurts

Psychic Pokemon in Pokemon Pocket have some positively brutal attacks, and Alakazam is just one example of that. There are quite a few Pokemon that want to have as many Energies on them as you can load up, and Alakazam punishes your opponent for getting too greedy.

Psychic is a three Energy attack that starts at 60 damage and then scales up for each Energy on your opponent’s Active Pokemon. The attack increases by 30 for each Energy, and even at just two Energies on them, Alakazam is dishing out 120 damage in one attack.

5

Lucario

Punch Harder

Straight from the Space-Time Smackdown set comes Lucario, a Fighting-type specialist that powers up all your other Fighting-type Pokemon. Lucario’s Fighting Coach ability buffs all your Fighting-type Pokemon by making their attacks deal a bonus 20 damage against your opponent’s active Pokemon.

Pokemon Pocket: 9 Pokemon With Highest HP

Pokemon Pocket is an offensive oriented game, so fielding the Pokemon with the highest HP can be a valuable asset.

That 20 damage can be the make-it-or-break-it amount against Pokemon with the Giant Cape tool or for those who tried to heal up with a Potion or two. Lucario’s Submarine Blow attack might only deal 40 damage at the base level, but it increases to 60 with the ability.

4

Serperior

The Grass Powerhouse

Serperior might be the most efficient Energy producer in the game, tied only by Gardevoir in terms of pure power. This Stage 2 Pokemon is prized for its Jungle Totem ability, which doubles the amount of Energy each Grass Energy attached to a Grass Pokemon generates.

The main use of Serperior is to power up Celebi ex, another strong Pokemon from the Mythical Island set. This type of Pokemon only gets stronger as more Grass Pokemon are released, so the potential for Serperior is huge.

3

Greninja

Snipe Them From The Bench

Greninja is not a Pokemon you want in the Active Spot. This Stage 2 Pokemon has a sneaky ability in its Water Shuriken attack. Once during your turn, you can use this ability to deal 20 damage to any of your opponent’s Pokemon, both in the Active Spot and on the Bench.

You can follow up with Greninja’s respectable Mist Slash attack, letting you deal up to 80 damage in a turn, but generally, you want to use its ability to take down weaker Pokemon on your opponent’s bench.

2

Dragonite

Random Damage Attack

Dragon Pokemon are among the strongest in the game, and Dragonite is an absolute tank in Pokemon Pocket. While it has a complicated Energy commitment, one Water, one Electric, and two Colorless Energy, it is more than worth the effort.

Draco Meteor deals a total of 200 damage, split across four instances of 50 damage that gets randomly distributed among all your opponent’s Pokemon. Since it is random, you can have instances where one Pokemon gets all 200 damage or splits 50 damage to four different Pokemon. Even so, it is all but guaranteed you’ll be knocking out at least one Pokemon with each attack.

1

Gardevoir

A Psychic Engine

Gardevoir Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Art.

An incredibly strong rare Pokemon, Gardevoir is the premiere Psychic Pokemon for anyone looking to take down some of the better decks across the meta. Gardevoir is primarily there to power up other Psychic-type Pokemon like Mewtwo ex.

Gardevoir can do this thanks to its Psy Shadow ability, which lets you take a Psychic Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to the Psychic Pokemon in your Active Spot. Gardevoir is much like Serperior in that the more Psychic Pokemon that are released, the better this Pokemon is going to get.
