Summary
- Silent Hill f is shaping up to be one terrifying game.
- If the content warning and ESRB rating weren’t enough, then the steelbook should send a shiver down your spine.
- The UK-exclusive preorder bonus depicts the main character with a void in her face, calling back to the ending sequence of the trailer.
If there is one word to describe the recently re-revealed Silent Hill f, it’s: Terrifying.
For starters, the game’s story is being written by Ryukishi07, the famous author of the When They Cry series, who has touted that he doesn’t mind if it’s the last thing he writes. If you haven’t seen When They Cry, be prepared for oodles of blood, mystery and gore.
If that wasn’t enough, it appears that the game will not feature guns, at least according to its ESRB rating. That would make sense since the game takes place in the 1960s in Japan and not the U.S. Now, it looks like you’ll be terrified on your way home from the story if you happen to buy Silent Hill f whenever it does launch.

Silent Hill f just got its first proper trailer, and I’m torn between excitement and scepticism.
The Steelbook Is Terrifying
As shared by the UK account of Konami, those who happen to purchase the physical edition of Silent Hill f will get an exclusive steelbook design that features art by kera, who is also responsible for the designs of the monsters in the game.
While the design is not finalized, it appears to depict the protagonist Hinako Shimizu with a void in her face where her facial features would typically be. It appears to be an extension of the ending sequence of the trailer, where her face is being sliced off by some cult-like adversaries with a knife. As it stands, Silent Hill f does include a content warning, letting players know to step away if the themes are too overpowering. Perhaps that warning should also extend to even considering buying the game.
