Should You Side With Laszlo Or Jan In Ransom In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 features some random encounters that can be completely missed. You can witness one such encounter in Kuttenberg near Denmark. This random encounter with the Cumans and Jan of Suchotlesky will lead to a side quest, Ransom.

It is one of the best side missions in the game, and it also features a choice at the end that will impact the quest’s outcome. Here, we will guide you through all of Ransom’s objectives, even the optional ones, as well as the best choice that would lead to the best outcome.

How To Start The Ransom Quest

This quest can only be started after you have completed the main quest, Speak of the Devil. However, we also recommend completing The Devil’s Pack before starting Ransom to get more allies for the battle. Otherwise, it may be difficult to get the best outcome.

You can start this quest by heading east from the fast-travel point in Bylany. Near the river, you will find some Cumans attacking a cart and soldiers. Defeat them and then talk to Jan of Suchotlesky. This will initiate Ransom.

If he is injured, you should also help him with his injuries. For us, he was perfectly fine. Jan will then ask you to find his brother in Sigismund’s camp and negotiate on his behalf. Agree to help him and then start heading toward the camp.

Ransom can’t be triggered if you have finished the game. We tried to locate the cart in the area after completing the game, but there was nothing except blood.

How To Find Laszlo Farkas

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Henry talking to Musa.

You will be given a pretty large search radius to find Peter and Laszlo Farkas. Finding the latter is easy, so do that first. Talk to any soldier in the camp, and they will tell you to speak with three different people.

While Musa will give you the same information as the camp chaplain, Father Bohumil, you can ask him about a lot of different things. This will give a ton of EXP for your scholarship skill.

All three will be marked on your map, so talk to them. You will also get skill checks from everyone, and succeeding in them will surely make things easy. However, that isn’t necessary, as they will tell you where to find Laszlo Farkas’ tent without passing the skill checks.

His tent is near the north gate. You may notice a red tent west of the north gate on your map. If you can’t locate the tent, then simply ask one of the Cumans in the area for the information, and they will direct you to Laszlo Farkas.

Then, speak to him, and no matter what you do, he will choose his own location. There is a skill check you can pass to get Peter’s armor back; if you fail, he will keep it.

Now that you have talked to him, it is time to find Peter.

How To Find Peter Of Suchotlesky

If you pass skill checks with all three of the people you talked to before, Peter’s location will appear on your map. However, even if you don’t, you can simply head east of the quest marker. There are some white tents and a fence. What you are looking for is a white tent guarded by two soldiers.

You can’t enter it this way, so go to the back of it. There, you will notice a gap in the fence. Go through it while crouching, the tent you are looking for will be on the left. Enter and talk to the prisoner. Apparently, he isn’t Peter, but he will provide you with the necessary information for some food.

If you have anything to eat, give it to him, and he will tell you that Peter is already dead. He will also tell you where you can find the corpse. If you don’t have any food, then you can either get some or pass a skill check.

Now, go to the coordinates marked on your map and find Peter’s corpse. There are quite a few carts, so ignore the ones in the front. Go through the gap and make your way to the backside. In the middle, you will find a cart with Peter’s corpse inside.

Now that you know the truth, you can confront Laszlo. Go back to his tent and talk to him. While he still won’t let you choose the location, you are now aware of the truth.

Report Back To Jan

Henry talking to Kubyenka in KCD2.

Now that all of your objectives in Sigismund’s camp are completed, head back to Jan and tell him everything. He will then ask you to gather some reinforcements. You can reject his offer to get revenge, but it will fail the quest, so agree and find some allies.

As we said before, this quest can be triggered right after you have completed the Speak of the Devil quest. However, if you have completed The Devil’s Pack, then you can have more allies. We progressed to The Lion’s Den quest to confirm how many allies you could have.

You can recruit your allies from The Devil’s Den. Talk to Kubyenka, and he will agree to offer his assistance. Adder will also join you. While these are both enough, you can also recruit Menhard’s men, but for you that you would need to do Ars Dimicatoria first.

After that, talk to Jan and tell him you are ready. While you can still proceed with the quest even if you don’t get any allies, it will make the rest of it pretty difficult. So make sure to hire at least Kubyenka and Adder, as Jan himself won’t be of any help during the battle.

If you can’t get any allies, then you have no choice but to gear up (if you plan on choosing Jan’s side). Equip your best armor and weapon. Then, talk to Jan, and you will fast-travel to the handoff location.

Should You Side With Laszlo Or Jan

In-game prompt to choose a side during the Random Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Once you have reached the decided location, you will be given an option to pick a side. You can either side with Laszlo or Jan. If you side with the latter, you would have to kill Laszlo and the Cumans.

With allies, this fight won’t be that difficult. Jan will pass out pretty quickly, but Kubyenka and Adder will hold their ground for a while. In that time, you can defeat Laszlo and a couple of other Cumans and then help your allies.

Once you have defeated your enemies, Jan will stand up and go to the cart. You can talk to him there; he will give you 150 Groschen and his brother’s sword (he won’t hand it over to you; grab it from the back of the cart). He won’t give you Peter’s armor, but you can loot Laszlo’s corpse for some excellent equipment.

If you want to choose Laszlo’s side, then you don’t have to recruit anyone before the battle. Simply tell Jan that you are ready. After traveling to the location, he gets angry when he does not see any allies. Then, you can choose Laszlo’s side and kill Jan. This fight will be over in mere seconds.

After the fight, talk to Laszlo, who will offer you Peter’s sword and armor. The sword is in the back of the cart, and the armor is in the chest. The best outcome is helping Jan, as this way, you can get even better armor from Laszlo’s dead body, along with Peter’s sword and 150 Groschen.

However, the choice totally depends on your preference, so choose whichever you prefer.
