After the initial rush of exploring every corner of the Palworld universe wears off, you focus on different ways to optimize your base or train the ultimate competitive Pals. Regarding creature-collection adventures, part of the fun is also trying to build teams based on a single element, like Water.
Water is one of the most useful elements to master in Palworld, as it helps you grow crops and have an abundant food supply to feed your Pal army. Still, Water Pals can be extremely useful for traversing the game’s massive map or fighting the toughest bosses blocking your path to victory. So, join us as we dive into the depths of these aquatic wonders, exploring the best water Pals that stand out as indispensable companions in your virtual adventures.
Updated on March 7, 2025, by Mohamed El Ouardighi: The Feybreak update introduced significant new content to Palworld, including several new pals. As a result, we reviewed and updated our lists to reflect these changes.
12
Fuack
is probably the first Water Pal you’ll find in your adventure, making this beginner-level creature an essential tool to build your first farm. Thanks to Fuack’s Watering trait, this cute little duck can irrigate crops and kickstart your food production.
Fuack is not the strongest Pal you’ll encounter in the early game. However, since he’s vital for growing your base and teaching you the basics of the Palworld game loop, he deserves the title of one of the best Water Pals.
11
Pengullet
Like Fuack, Pengullet
is a Water Pal best suited for the early game. However, besides watering crops, Pengullet’s Cooling trait allows you to experiment with vital equipment such as the Refrigerator
.
In addition, Pengullet stands out among Pal due to its Partner Skill, the Pengullet Canon. When activated, the Pengullet Canon puts a rocket launcher in your hands, with the penguin Pal turning into a projectile. The resulting blast of shooting Pengullet is a powerful tool to beat early bosses and epitomizes Palworld’s chaotic concept.
10
Relaxaurus
Being a double-element Pal, Relaxaurus
unites the strength of both Water and Dragon. That means this dinosaur-inspired Pal can learn powerful attacks that easily break your opponent’s defenses.
Relaxaurus can also be mounted, helping you to reach your destination faster. Plus, since Relaxaurus can shoot a missile launcher when mounted, partnering up with the Gluttonous Dragon ensures you’ll be ready to face any obstacles in your way.
Don’t let Relaxaurus’ goofy appearance trick you, as this is one of the most ferocious Water Pals out there. If you want to catch one for your collection, it’s best to be prepared for an intense battle.
9
Surfent
While mounted, Surfent
allows you to traverse large bodies of water quickly. What’s even better is that, due to its Swift Swimmer Partner Skill, Surfent prevents stamina depletion while gracefully moving over the water.
Even though Surfent is a single-element Pal, this creature can also learn powerful Dragon skills fairly early in its progression path. As such, Surfent doubles down as a great locomotion tool and a balanced combat partner.
8
Celaray
While on your team, Celaray
can be used as a glider, making crossing valleys and mountain chains much more manageable. Furthermore, Celaray’s Zephyr Glider Partner Skill also allows you to glide faster and longer than the primary glider. So, even though Celaray is not so powerful when facing late-game challenges, keeping it on your team is always helpful.
As with all Water element Pals, Celaray’s Watering trait makes it helpful in tending to crops. However, Celaray also has the Transporting Trait, which means it can take supplies from one place to another.
7
Penking
Unlike other creature-catching games, Palworld doesn’t feature an evolution system. That means that, despite their similarities, Penking
is unrelated to Pengullet. Yet, Penking does have a similar function to the smaller penguin Pal, being extremely handy when dealing with Watering and Cooling buildings in your base.
Penking is also the perfect partner when hunting down Fire element Pals. Besides counting with the elemental advantage every Water Pal has against Fire enemies, Penking’s Brave Sailor Skill increases the drop rate for loot when defeating Fire enemies, speeding up the farming process of some rare materials.
6
Suzaku Aqua
The Water subspecies of Suzaku is a unique Pal that can be ridden as a flying mount while also increasing the power of Water attacks. That means you can ride Suzaku Aqua
to literally rain down destruction upon your enemies.
In addition, Suzaku Aqua is incredibly useful for irrigating crops thanks to its level three Watering Trait. Finally, Suzaku Aqua can learn many Ice Skills, giving it an advantage in combat against Dragon Pals.
You can get a Suzaku Aqua by breeding a regular Suzako with any Water Pal. You can also find the Huge Damp Egg
in the wild and put it in the incubator to get a Suzako Aqua.
5
Broncherry Aqua
The unique combination of Grass and Water elements makes the Broncherry Aqua
the perfect candidate for a well-balanced team. So, by mastering Skills from both elements, this subspecies is a powerful ally for end-game challenges.
Broncherry Aqua also carries items when walking by your side, increasing your inventory size. That’s a particularly useful tool, as sometimes the inventory space in Palworld feels a little too small for all the loot you can gather in the wild.
4
Elphidran Aqua
is one of the newest additions to Palworld and stands out as one of the best water-type pals you can get. With level three Watering and level two Lumbering, it’s a fantastic worker for keeping plantations hydrated, powering the mill for flour, and running the crusher for fiber and Paldium fragments.
But this dragon pal isn’t just useful at the base. It also serves as a reliable flying mount, making it easier to travel across the land. And if you take it into battle, it has another unique perk—when fighting alongside Elphidran Aqua, Fire Pals drop more items upon defeat, which can be incredibly useful when farming specific materials.
3
Azurobe
is a stylish Water Pal that can be ridden and used to traverse bodies of water. That alone already makes it a good choice for your team. However, the Lady of the Lake also has a game-changing combat ability that applies Water damage to your mounted attacks.
As an end-game Pal, Azurobe’s Skills are also extremely powerful, allowing the player to challenge even the strongest Fire enemies. As a Dragon element Pal, Azurobe also gets attacks that destroy Dark creatures.
2
Faleris Aqua
If you’re looking for a pal to handle all the Watering tasks in your base, Faleris Aqua is the perfect choice. On top of that, with level three Transporting, it can move resources efficiently, so you won’t have to constantly haul items or store them yourself.
This new pal, introduced with the Feybreak update, can be found north of the island near the Scorched Ashland Fast Travel point, where you’ll spot it soaring through the sky. And if you need a flying mount, you’re in luck – Faleris Aqua can carry you across the land with ease.
1
Jormuntide
is one of the last Pals you’ll encounter in Palworld, and his raw power alone will ensure you’ll never need another Water companion when riding to battle. That’s because Jormuntide’s combination of mighty Water and Dragon skills is unparalleled.
Jormuntide’s usefulness goes beyond combat, though. The Emperor of the Sea can be mounted and used to traverse lakes and rivers while also preventing stamina depletion while you ride it. Finally, with a level four Watering trait, Jormuntide is the best Water Pal to care for your crops.
While having Jormuntide on your team is incredible, this Pal is one of the strongest bosses in the game. So, pack your best supplies before facing it.

Palworld has been described as Pokemon with guns and well, it’s hard to argue with that. The game is very similar in nature to the Pokemon formula, tasking you with catching and working with monsters called Pals. There are key differences, though. Palworld is rooted in multiplayer, oh, and, unlike Pokemon, its Pals have guns.
