Like With Marvel and DC, Fortnite Can Play Both Sides With One Crossover

The long competition between Marvel and DC isn’t the only chance for Fortnite to benefit from appealing to both sides of a rivalry. At the moment, Fortnite is one of the only places in media where fans can see icons from both DC and Marvel alongside each other. Considering Fortnite‘s massive list of crossovers, they’re unlikely to be the last example of rivals coexisting either. There is one field of media in particular that has only made a few contributions to the game’s content. At the same time, it provides a perfect chance to feature competitors alongside each other again.

The presence of Fortnite‘s crossovers has become one of the defining attributes of the game. While Fortnite has an enormous roster of original skins, it’s usually the ones that come as a result of crossovers that get the most attention. These collaborations are frequent, but they still hold weight. After all, Fortnite is one of the biggest online games in the world, so it naturally makes headlines when a prominent IP collaborates with the developers. Whether it’s part of a Battle Pass, event, or fully independent, it usually makes waves. Not to mention, it benefits both Fortnite and the IP in question.

Fortnite Could Play Host to Wrestlers From Both AEW and WWE

WWE Has Already Collaborated With Fortnite

There are a few WWE skins in Fortnite that have come out over the years. So far, this collection consists of:

  • John Cena
  • Becky Lynch
  • Bianca Belair
  • The Rock

Considering the popularity of WWE, it’s no surprise that some of their biggest stars ended up in Fortnite. If anything, it might be more surprising that only four wrestlers have appeared in the game. There are still a lot of WWE stars who are easy to picture in Fortnite, such as The Miz and Rey Mysterio. Players may want to keep an eye out for any more WWE collaborations in the game’s future.

AEW is WWE’s Most Prominent Modern Competitor

Crossing over into Fortnite could be a part of AEW’s future in gaming as well. Launching at the start of 2019, AEW has become one of the biggest wrestling promotions in America, and arguably the biggest rival to WWE in the country. AEW has raised the profile of several talented and underappreciated indie wrestlers, as well as repackaging a few more well-known stars like Billy Gunn. So far, AEW’s legacy in video games is still small, with only AEW: Fight Forever representing them on console. However, Fortnite could be the perfect place for AEW’s profile in the gaming sphere to rise further.

A Lot of AEW Wrestlers Would Be a Good Fit For Fortnite

There is no shortage of Fortnite skin potential when it comes to AEW’s roster of wrestlers. Orange Cassidy’s comically lazy gimmick helped make him popular, and his hands-in-pockets kip-up would make for an awesome emote. MJF’s over-the-top smugness could translate fantastically into his portrayal in Fortnite. Likewise, Darby Allin has one of AEW’s most eye-catching looks and could make for an awesome skin. Likewise, Toni Storm’s “Timeless” gimmick could be made into a retro-styled greyscale skin to fit her old-school Hollywood vibes. While these four are strong contenders, this is only scratching the surface of what AEW could bring to a Fortnite collaboration.

There are plenty of good reasons for AEW and Fortnite to work together. Until AEW’s next video game comes out, it would be a good move for the company to do a crossover with Fortnite. Announcing a collaboration would certainly draw attention, especially if the wrestlers in question were particularly notable or popular. While AEW hasn’t quite matched WWE’s level of mainstream recognition yet, it’s still one of wrestling’s most notable names. Fortnite including AEW stars alongside WWE’s existing skins could make the game an even bigger draw for wrestling fans.
