Players who enjoy the gardening aspect of The Sims 4 will find the following mods absolutely essential for their next playthrough.
How to Increase Plant Quality in The Sims 4
Depending on what DLC players own, Sims can plant vegetables, fruits, flowers, and more. All they need is gardening space or planting pots. Players can also build greenhouses if they want indoor gardens. Seeds are purchased using a phone, computer, or planting pot. Sims with a low Gardening skill have limited seed options, but as their skill increases, more options appear.
Once their seeds are planted, Sims must take care of their plants every day to help them grow. When Sims reach Gardening level two, they can increase the quality of their plants. Plants have five quality levels: Normal, Nice, Excellent, Magnificent, and Perfect. All plants start at Normal, and it takes work to increase their quality.
Sims can start by watering, weeding, and spraying their plants for bugs whenever needed. When a Sim reaches Gardening level four, they can talk to their plants daily to slightly increase their quality. They can keep track of their quality by checking the quality bar when they hover over the plant. As the plants get better, the bar fills and turns green.
One of the best ways to increase plant quality in The Sims 4 is to use Fertilizer. Fertilizer can be made from plants and manure if players have Cats & Dogs or Horse Ranch. To use Fertilizer, click on the desired plant and choose “Fertilizer…” The higher the quality of the Fertilizer, the more effective it will be. Sims can fertilize their plants approximately every four days.
Players can speed up the process using Reward and Lot Traits. Reward Traits are purchased from the Rewards Store using Satisfaction Points (SP) earned by completing goals and objectives.
Lot Traits are free and can be chosen by the player in Build/Buy Mode under the Lot Information Menu. Sims can use the following traits to help increase plant quality:
- Super Green Thumb (Reward Trait – 4,000 SP): Super Green Thumbs will find the plants they garden have amazing vitality!
- Great Soil (Lot Trait): Gardening just seems to go really well here.
Players will know a plant is ready to gain quality when it starts sparkling. To increase its quality, click on the plant and choose “Evolve.” A notification will appear when it is finished.
Higher-quality plants yield more valuable crops, so players can start making tons of money if they evolve all their plants. If a garden gets too big to manage, Sims can hire Gardeners using their phones to help out.
