Reaching the endgame of Monster Hunter Wilds will ask a lot of you, and if you want access to all the resources and hunts in the game, you’ll need to complete side quests like Echoing from the Cliffs. The tempered monsters you’ll face in it are no joke, and you need to fight two of them to complete the quest.

Getting the rare novacrystals in Monster Hunter Wilds can be a task.
You’ll be fighting in the frigid environs of the Iceshard Cliffs, hunting a Blangonga and a Hirabami. These monsters share a weakness, so you won’t need to swap weapons, but coming unprepared will see you sent straight back to camp.
How To Start The Echoing From The Cliffs Side Quest
Before you can start Echoing from the Cliffs, you need to be Hunter Rank 31 and have completed Chapters 5-3 in the story A Break in the Clouds. Once you meet those requirements, head to the village of Suja and speak to Apar.
You’ll know Apar by her height: she stands almost twice as tall as your Hunter, holds a spear, and wears a large sun hat. She’ll mention that your target monsters are causing a commotion and ask if there’s anything you can do. As it happens, you can.
Speak to Alma and open the Optional Quest tab, then accept Echoing from the Cliffs to get started.
How To Complete The Echoing From The Cliffs Side Quest
There’s nothing complicated about Echoing from the Cliffs. Simply hunt the Blangonga and Hirabami however you choose, either by slaying or capturing them. You can then return to Apar in Suja for your reward.
Both monsters on this quest are primarily weak to fire weapons. You won’t need to change weapons if you have a fire element weapon you enjoy. The Iceshard Cliffs aren’t as replete with natural hazards to exploit as elsewhere in the game, but you can make good use of Shock and Pitfall traps, as well as other monsters, as you need to.
Beware of the Blangonga’s group of smaller Conga monsters, as they can deal minor but possibly run-ending damage. They might also block your way to their larger pack leader, eating damage when you need it most.
Rewards For Completing The Echoing From The Cliffs Side Quest
As a hunt for tempered monsters, the most valuable rewards you get from Echoing from the Cliffs are the Artian weapon parts and Hunter Symbols, both of which you’ll need for the Monster Hunter Wilds endgame. The High Rank monster materials are a nice bonus, too.
Reporting back to Apar also grants a set of rewards, including:
- Three Airy Eggs for grilling
- Five Ancient Potion healing items
- 300 Guild Points
- A hefty chunk of Hunter Rank XP
Lastly, completing Echoing from the Cliffs unlocks the ability to take on multi-monster Field Survey quests in the Iceshard Cliffs during free roam. Field Surveys and Investigations are the best way to farm Artian weapon parts, decorations, and High Rank monster materials, making this quest mandatory if you want to be 100 percent efficient at farming in Monster Hunter Wilds.
