Dark Souls 3: Every Undead Bone Shard (& Where To Find Them)
Undead Bone Shards are crucial when it comes to ensuring your Estus Flask keeps up with your health bar in Dark Souls 3. Here’s where to find them.
Throughout the game, players will have to choose between transposing a boss’ Soul into either a powerful weapon like a fist or a claw or a mighty spell, and while sometimes the former is the better choice, in other instances the latter is the way to go to get the most out of it. Here are some boss Souls in Dark Souls 3 that are best transposed into spells.
7
Soul of Aldrich
Lifehunt Scythe
HP |
4,727 |
Location |
Anor Londo |
The Lifehunt Scythe is a powerful Miracle that players can get after defeating Aldrich, Devourer of Gods at Anor Londo. This boss is formidable and mandatory to progress through the story, so players will have to face him anyway.
Once they obtain the Soul of Aldrich, players can go to Ludleth of Courland at the Firelink Shrine to transpose it for either the Lifehunt Scythe or the Darkmoon Longbow, which is also quite good, but not as much as the Miracle. The Soul can also be consumed for 15,000 Souls, but at the point where players fight Aldrich, this might not help out as much. If players are struggling to defeat this boss, they can use Fire against him, as he’s weak to this element.
6
Soul Of Darkeater Midir
Old Moonlight
HP |
15,860 |
Location |
The Ringed City |
The Old Moonlight is yet another powerful Sorcery that players can obtain by defeating Darkeater Midir, a boss that is widely regarded as the hardest boss in the entire Ringed City DLC. Midir is tough not only because of his massive size and uncommon speed for his weight, but also, because he has a few AoE and special attacks that can kill the Ashen One in one or two shots.

Dark Souls 3: 6 Best Rings For A Dexterity Build
Dexterity builds in Dark Souls 3 are great for players who want quick attacks and dodges. Here are some of the rings for a pure Dex build.
Unlike other bosses who are weak to frostbite, Midir is immune to it, but players can use Thrust or the Pestilent Mist Sorcery to bring him down quicker.
5
Soul Of A Stray Demon
Boulder Heave
HP |
2,004 |
Location |
Farron Keep |
The Stray Demon, found in Farron Keep, is not particularly strong. However, since players have to face it early on, it can be quite a challenge, not only because of its attacks, but also because it can grab the Ashen One and throw them to the side, making them fall to their death.
By transposing its Soul, players can get either Havel’s Ring, which is great for Strength builds, or the Boulder Heave Pyromancy, which can be very useful for dealing with a bunch of enemies at that point in the game. Players struggling to defeat this mini-boss can try some of the best quality weapons in Dark Souls 3 along with a Quality build, as this can help make the fight much easier.
4
Soul Of The Demon Prince
Seething Chaos
HP |
7,045 |
Location |
Dreg Heap |
While it’s not as challenging as Darkeater Midir, the Demon Prince is still a very tough boss from The Ringed City DLC. Not only is it extremely powerful, but before players manage to take it down, they’ll also have to face the Demon in Pain and the Demon From Below, which can force them to exhaust their Estus Flask charges before the true challenge even begins.
Once they manage to defeat the Demon Prince, players will have to choose between transposing its soul in exchange for either the Demon’s Scar weapon, or the Seething Chaos Pyromancy, being the latter being the better choice. Despite its size, the Demon Prince is one of the fastest bosses in Dark Souls 3, so players must proceed with caution during this fight.
3
Soul Of The Lords
Sunlight Spear
HP |
10,766 |
Location |
Kiln of the First Flame |
The final challenge players will have to overcome during their Dark Souls 3 playthrough is defeating the Soul of Cinder at the Kiln of the First Flame. This boss has a few tricks up its sleeve and can use different weapons against players to make the fight memorable.
Like Gwyn in the original Dark Souls, the Soul of Cinder boss isn’t the toughest boss in the game despite being the final one. However, defeating it will reward players with the Soul of the Lords, which can either be consumed for 20,000 Souls, or transposed in exchange for the Sunlight Spear Miracle or the Firelink Greatsword. While the Soul of Cinder is not as fast as other bosses, it’s also not one of the slowest bosses in Dark Souls 3, so it’s important that players face it with cat-like reflexes to emerge victorious.
2
Soul Of Consumed Oceiros
White Dragon Breath
HP |
8,087 |
Location |
Consumed King’s Garden |
The story of Oceiros the Consumed King is a tragic one and players can get a peek of his lore through his dialogue and interactions with him during his boss fight. His first phase isn’t too challenging. However, once half his health is depleted, he will adopt a beast-like stance that makes him much more dangerous and a lot quicker, so players should try to find all the help they can get to defeat him.

After the fight is over, players will be rewarded with the Soul of Consumed Oceiros, which can be transposed to obtain either the Moonlight Greatsword, or the White Dragon Breath. This one is a bit tricky, as the Moonlight Greatsword is also excellent, but those looking to create a character focused on spellcasting are better off choosing the White Dragon Breath Sorcery.
1
Soul Of The Old Demon King
Chaos Bed Vestiges
HP |
5,301 |
Location |
Smouldering Lake |
Lastly, there’s the Old Demon King, who calls the Smouldering Lake his home. This area is optional and can be easily missed if players don’t know where to look. There are also tons of challenges along the way, including a giant ballista that will pester players at every turn, and the Carthus Sandworm, which should be defeated to obtain one of the many Undead Bone shards in the game.
After defeating the Old Demon King, players will get the Soul of the Old Demon King, which should be transposed into the Chaos Bed Vestiges Pyromancy.
