What Are Sane Decorations and How to Get Them in Monster Hunter Wilds
Sane Decorations are a level 1 armor Decoration that, when equipped with a player’s gear, can provide 1 level of the Antivirus skill. Antivirus makes it easier to recover from the infamous Frenzy Virus, which then rewards players with an increase in Affinity when cured. Players may find themselves infected with this virus when taking on the returning fan-favorite monster known as Gore Magala. Its entire moveset is about infecting hunters with this virus, making them less deadly in battle if they do not recover from it. However, if a player successfully recovers from it, they get a buff instead.
While this skill may only sound appealing when fighting Gore Magala, this monster’s armor can willingly infect players with the Frenzy Virus if they wear enough pieces to get the set bonus. Since fighting off the virus only requires players to consistently attack a target, the negative effect is paid off by its reward being almost instantaneous. This is what makes this specific skill so desirable in many builds.
The Antivirus skill has a total of 3 levels, with its effects being more potent as they go higher. Level 1 armor Decorations are the best way to get there without sacrificing too much of your armor to Gore Magala pieces. The two most consistent ways of getting level 1 Decorations are through quests and melding.
When accepting quests, players will notice jewel-like icons in the rewards bar. These are called Orbs, and they are the main source of obtaining Decorations through every hunt. Each Orb has a classification and distinction of whether it will drop a Decoration for armor or weapons. For the Sane Jewel, be on the lookout for these types of orbs:
- Mystery Orb – Armor (White jewel icon)
- Glowing Orb – Armor (Blue jewel icon)
- Ancient Orb – Armor (Aqua marine jewel icon)
The rewards from these Orbs are determined by random chance, as they pull from all possible Decorations in the game. While this is the fastest way to obtain them without having to spend any resources or materials, remember that luck is a factor in obtaining the Sane Decoration or any specific Decoration by this method.
While these Orbs are always tied to quests, players can also go to the Melding Pot for a more direct approach. The Melding Pot is a vendor found in Suja, Peaks of Accord. Here, players can use almost any materials they have gathered in their travels and exchange them for certain Decorations. Upon discovering the Melding Pot, players can immediately craft level 1 Decorations by exchanging materials or even other owned Decorations. This is direct but can be costly as players can even tap into their monster materials and use them as a means of exchange for Decorations. Therefore, players need to be mindful of what exactly they may offer to ensure they can get their hands on Sane Decorations.
