Kakegurui is an anime set in a cutthroat gambling school filled with larger-than-life characters. Each episode of the anime is fast-paced, witty, and filled with games that will leave you wanting more. Unfortunately, there are currently only two seasons, so the fun will eventually come to an end.

These aren’t identical, but they have many of the same characteristics while still providing a unique viewing experience.

Death Parade
If you like the game aspect of Kakegurui, then Death Parade may be a good option for you. This anime takes place in a bar where souls are sent after death. The bartender, Decim, oversees games between recently deceased people.
While the show isn’t quite as over-the-top as Kakegurui, it’s still packed with interesting characters, a mysterious world, and a wonderful story. Interestingly, this anime is an original; there is no manga version that predates the show (which is common in anime).
7
Classroom Of The Elite
We’re taking it back to high school again with Classroom Of The Elite. We say high school, but the students in Classroom Of The Elite have a high amount of freedom, so it’s not really just a show about teens going to school.
While there is no gambling involved, the students are judged based on their merit, with points being awarded to the best. Of course, this is part of some government program. From here, the social and mind games commence.

Danganronpa: The Animation
Danganronpa is a massively popular franchise with both video games and anime. If you don’t feel like playing the three main games in the franchise, you can also watch Danganronpa: The Anime, which is based on the first game (Trigger Happy Havoc). In this, a group of students are trapped in their high school and forced to play a death game.
Everyone involved is the ‘ultimate’ in something; there is even an Ultimate Gambler who looks like she would fit into Kakegurui. Throughout the show, you can witness mysterious murders and the tense trials that follow.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War isn’t as cutthroat as Kakegurui, but it’s set in a similar high school filled with children of the rich and powerful. This show is packed with quick and witty humor, as well as overthinking from the main two characters, Kaguya and Shirogane.

Shojo anime is targeted towards young women, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it! Here are the best shojo anime of all time.
At its core, this show is about love. It’s painfully obvious that the two main characters love each other, but they are too prideful to confess to each other. From this, you’ll witness a variety of war games centered around these two members of the student council.
4
One Outs
Though this is a baseball anime, it surprisingly involves a high level of gambling. Rather than following the motivational story of a baseball team, One Outs follows Toua Tokuchi, who uses his baseball prowess to earn some money.
The center of the gambling here is a version of baseball, making for quite a unique anime. The main character isn’t an altruistic team player; you’ll get to witness manipulation and wits put to the test. Overall, One Outs is perfect if you like Kakegurui and sports anime.
3
Food Wars
Who knew cooking could be so thrilling? Food Wars is set in a culinary school filled with some of the best young chefs in Japan. Cooking isn’t all fun and games though; the main character (Soma) is in for the harsh reality of cooking competitions in order to prove his worth.

2
Tomodachi Game
Do you like a good gauntlet of games that really put characters to the psychological test? Though Tomodachi means ‘friend’ in Japanese, this is no friendly game. In this anime, a group of high school friends have essentially been kidnapped and forced to play games.
This anime is similar to Danganronpa, as there is no connection to the outside world. The characters start to crack under the pressure of the games, with friendships wavering. This anime is great if you like the mind-game aspect of Kakegurui.

No Game, No Life
Last but not least, we have No Game, No Life. This anime follows a stepsibling duo made of Sora and Shiro. The two are shut-in gamers, but naturally, they are isakai’d to another world. This isn’t just your typical isekai anime though. Rather than relying on this trope, No Game, No Life uses this as the jumping-off point.
Instead of gambling like in Kakegurui, the pair participates in traditional games, such as fantasy-versions of Othello and chess. Of course, cheating is allowed, as long as you don’t get caught. This makes for wonderfully entertaining games that otherwise, wouldn’t be as thrilling.
